Bilingual Instructional Aide

Duties and Responsibilities:
Administering CELDT
• California English Language Development Test
• Each year we are required to attend a training to become newly
certified to administer the CELDT for the following school year.
• Our presence and participation is required for both the individual
and group portion of the exams.
• Test materials are to be kept secure and confidential
Duties and Responsibilities:
Interpreting for IEP Meeting
• IEP: Individualized Education Program
• Interpreting for parents of special needs students
who do not speak English.
• Each year the school district requires special training
to become familiar with common vocabulary
associated with IEP meetings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Inside the Classroom
• Each year a schedule is provided by the Assistant
Principal specifying which classrooms require extra
assistance.
• Duties asked by teachers can range from but not
limited to: extra tutoring for specified students,
proctoring for state exams, providing needed
resources, small group tutoring, and support in
disciplinarian actions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Special Individual Duties
• Students who have recently immigrated from
another country are classified as “Initials”.
• Should the student be assigned to my work schedule,
I create a lesson plan after assessing their abilities.
• My lesson plans are modeled off of the common
curriculum with directions given both in English and
Spanish.
