2014 FINANCIAL REPORT
As a society we’ve had a pretty good year financially. In both funds, we had
R14332.17 in total of which we have spent R7099.20 and are left with R7232.97. The
sources of income and our expenses to date are outlined below.
In the beginning of the year we were given a grant of R2010.00 by the University towards
the running of the society and there was a balance of R1887.81 which was carried forward
from the previous year.
During Plaza week we had a total of 67 sign-ups from whom we received R8040.00. We
replaced our gazebo and the cost of purchasing and transporting it came to R429.00.
We have had three events which include:
 Independence braai with ZACT (24/10/13)- there were no expenses incurred on our
part for this event
 Beach Day (08/03/14) – We were fortunate enough to receive R1500 from IAPO
towards the event and we collected a total of R1830 from ticket sales. The total cost
of refreshments and equipment for the event came up to R2020.50 which included
food, drinks, eating utensils, a cooler, fold-up table and a ball. We also hired a bus to
transport us to and from the venue which cost us R2130.00
 Outreach-Al Noor orphanage (02/08/14) – We spent a total of R965.70 on snacks for
the children and donations for the running of the orphanage as a whole. Our
transport costs to and from Woodstock came up to R354.00

We were privileged to take part in the “I am international” week that was coordinated by
IAPO and the SRC. We received a sum of R1200 which was used to purchase food and
equipment towards the Africa day Plaza where we proudly showed off our country’s
delicacies.
We intend on having a party sometime in the near future and an Independence dinner in
conjunction with ZACT to celebrate fifty years of Independence. To raise money towards the
dinner we intend to set up a borewores and hotdog stand on plaza and possibly have a
sports tournament.
All in all our financial status is healthy, our money has been spent responsibly and we are
well on our way to achieving our goal of leaving ZAMSOC in good financial standing for the
incoming committee.
It was a pleasure to serve you all.
