2015 FINANCIAL REPORT
As a society we’ve had a pretty good year financially. In both funds, we had
R13759.90 in total of which we have spent R8324.21 and are left with R5435.69. About sixty
percent of our budget. The sources of income and our expenses to date are outlined below.
In the beginning of the year we were given a grant of R2010.00 by the University towards
the running of the society and there was a balance of R1887.81 which was carried forward
from the previous year.
During Plaza week we had a total of 74 sign-ups from whom we received R8880.00. We
replaced our gazebo, printed shirts for society members and bought afew treats to hand out
on plaza. The total cost of all that and the transport used came to R4679.60.
We have had three events which include:
 Project X party – We were fortunate enough to receive R1500 from IAPO towards
the event and we collected a total of R1830 from ticket sales. The total cost of
refreshments and equipment for the event came up to R2020.50 which included
food, drinks, eating utensils, a cooler, fold-up table and a ball. We also hired a bus to
transport us to and from the venue which cost us R2130.0
 Four Nations Braai – We partnered up with three others societies to host this event
and our total expenditure came to about R 891.92 which included delivery fee of the
goods purchased.
 St Anne’s Maternal Home – We spent a total of R 734.70 on donations for the
children and their mothers, plus the running of the home as a whole. Our transport
costs to and from Woodstock came up to R104.30

 AGM – A total of 1045.49 was spent on the AGM this included food and drinks
which costs R915.49 and printing of R130.
We intend on having a party sometime in the near future and an Independence dinner in
conjunction with ZACT to celebrate fifty years of Independence. To raise money towards the
dinner we intend to set up a borewores and hotdog stand on plaza and possibly have a
sports tournament.
All in all our financial status is healthy, our money has been spent responsibly and we are
well on our way to achieving our goal of leaving ZAMSOC in good financial standing for the
incoming committee.
It was truly a pleasure to serve you all and I wish the incoming committee the best of luck!
