A hatchery is a facility where eggs are artificially incubated and hatched on a large scale. Eggs are received, graded, stored, and transferred to setters where temperature and humidity are gradually increased over 18 days to incubate the eggs. After 21 days, hatched chicks are moved to a hatching room and later to a chick holding room where they are packed for distribution. The hatchery design involves separate rooms for egg storage, setting, hatching, and holding the chicks along with equipment washing facilities.
