Doing research in books that don't belong to you Often when you complete research for ANY subject you will be reading books that don't belong to you which means you can't write in them, underline in them or fold the pages. You can use a post-it to paraphrase (put into your own words) an important idea that the author discusses on the page 2. Write a QUOTE that you think will help you prove your main-idea/reasons from your thesis - When you write that quote you might want to write a quick note reminding yourself why you chose that quote (or at least the main idea/reason it connects to) - The best thing about doing this is that you can have multiple post-its/quotes for the same main idea (ahead of time!) and then you can choose which one is the best when you go back to write your paper!
