* In both stories, God creates people

3. RELIGIOUS TRUTHS IN THE BIBLICAL STORIES OF
CREATION:
• There is one God
• God created all things
• Everything in creation depends on God
• God created people in His image and likeness
- through our soul ad the gift of free will
• God made people the stewards (caretakers) of
creation
4. • THE FALL OF ADAM and EVE:
- Genesis 3:1-24
- Adam and Eve represent the first people to know
God
- They lived the Garden of Eden, where God gave
them everything they needed
- God told them not to eat from one tree, the
“Tree of Knowledge”
5. • The serpent (snake) tempted Eve to eat the fruit
by telling her that if she did, she would be god-
like
• Eve ate the fruit and gave some to Adam
• When God questioned them, Eve blamed the
snake and Adam blamed Eve
• God punished Adam, Eve, and the serpent

7. • God gave humankind the world, and everything
we need
• When we disobey God and think we are equal
to Him (arrogance), we are turning away from
Him in sin
• People often try to take the responsibility for
sin off of themselves and blame others
• God knows the truth
• Humanity needed a Savior, and a model of faith
and love
• God sent us this savior in Jesus
