you can do to keep your dishwasher performing

Cleaning the interior - If you use your
dishwasher on a regular basis, there is really no
need to clean the inside of it; however, if it isn't
used for more than a week or so, it can begin to smell and even mold. You
can find dishwasher cleaners at most home improvement stores and on the
cleaning aisle of most grocery stores.
Removing rust stains - Removing rust from the interior of your dishwasher
is important to reduce build-up. This is especially necessary if you have hard
water. Rust remover is something that you can find at many home
improvement stores as well.
Cleaning the filter - On most dishwashers, the filter can be found near the
bottom. If you can't locate the filter, refer to the owner's manual for help.
The filter can often get clogged with food and other debris and it needs to be
cleaned regularly.
Cleaning the spray arm - With time, the holes in the spray arm of your
dishwasher can become clogged with pieces of food, paper and other things.
