Kitchen Appliance Tips for a Busy Holiday Season
Over the holidays, your
appliances are going to be put
through the wringer. From the
oven doing all the cooking to
the washer and dryer trying to
keep up with all the extra
laundry, your appliances are
definitely going to need a little
tender loving care to keep them
going. Unfortunately, many
people end up overlooking their appliances and letting them slip by the
wayside. To prevent any unexpected surprises over the holidays, follow the
tips below.
Dishwasher
You can easily keep your dishwasher clean by putting a cup of vinegar inside
of a cup in the top rack and running a normal cleaning cycle. This will help
minimize possible calcium residue in your system. Quality dishwasher
detergent is important too, as well as a rinse agent.
Microwave
Microwaves tend to get a lot of use during the holiday season. It is important
that you keep it as clean as you possibly can. Add a cup of vinegar and some
water to your microwave. Heat it until it starts boiling. Allow the microwave
to sit for about five minutes and then get to working cleaning. This lets the
steam do its work. All you need is a soft cloth to finish the job up.
Oven
Common sense says that if you have a gas oven you better make sure you
have a full tank. The same goes for electric. Make sure your bill is paid.

Spend some time cleaning your oven too. Don’t just wait until after the
holidays are over and then start cleaning. You want to clean beforehand to
prevent having twice as much of a mess to clean up. Thoroughly cleaning
now will allow you to spot clean when the holidays are over. Burnt on
particles can end up affecting how your oven performs. A professional can
also check to see if your oven temperature is working properly or not.
Refrigerator
Clean your fridge and make sure there is no spoiled food in it. You don’t
want any funky odors hanging around and causing problems. Have the
condenser coils cleaned every year. Your fridge is on and running around the
clock, so you want to make sure you get it taken care of properly.
Refrigerator temperature is another thing you need to check to make sure it
is accurate.
In doing the things above, you can make sure you are set for the upcoming
holiday season.
