Technical and Sound Treatments
Through a synthesis of science, art and interactivity, Galaxy Ballroom skilfully presents humanity's small but
important presence in the universe, taking the audience through the planets' cosmic ballroom with mesmerising
2D sci-fi animation and innovative immersive interactive space design, presenting a meeting point for the visual
and the senses.
Synopsis
In this work, through a combination of deep contemplation and scientific exploration of the universe, we seek to
present a unique and stunning visual feast. Inspired by the role of human beings as observers, explorers and
purposeful inhabitants of the universe, and drawing on American astronomer Carl Sagan's famous quote "We are a
way for the universe to know itself", we try to emphasise the small but important presence of human beings and the
Earth in this vast and mysterious system through this work.
The work is based on the natural ecology of the earth, the development of civilisation and the existing understanding
of the universe by human beings, and builds a scene of a galaxy ballroom. Through the mesmerising 2D sci-fi
animation, the dance of the stars subtly suggests various astronomical phenomena and portrays the development of
the universe in chronological order, achieving the effect of popular science.
The work contains not only the artistic experience on the screen, but also through the use of interactive spatial
design and installations, to build this "galaxy ballroom" in reality, an immersive interactive space. The audience is not
only a spectator, but also a participant, building this unique ball with us. The installation design and the interactive
projection on the floor allow the viewer to travel through time and space to experience the galaxy ballroom of the
planets.
The whole work is a fusion of art, science and interactivity, bringing the audience a full range of sensory experiences
through the diversity of media. Galaxy Ballroom is not only an exploration of the mysteries of the universe, but also a
profound journey that leads the audience to think about the position and value of the Earth and human beings in the
universe, away from the human time system. The work becomes a visual and sensory meeting point, allowing the
audience to establish an intimate and mysterious connection with the universe on different levels.

Sound:
At the moment we are tentatively using the same soundtrack for both the animation and the interactive space. Because we can't be
sure whether the position of the audience watching the animation and experiencing the interactive space overlap, and whether it is
a conflict if two sounds are played.
We have already contacted a student in China, called RAN, to collaborate on this music production. We will give him a detailed
description of the project and the music requirements after the PDF is submitted at this stage.
