Wearable technology devices can be worn by consumers and track health and fitness information. The field began in 1981 when Steve Mann invented a wearable multimedia computer. Wearables are important because they are compact, smart, efficient, and allow ubiquitous connectivity. Successful design requires a human-centered approach and consistency of integrated data. Wearables have many uses like healthcare monitoring, improving diagnoses, and reducing costs. Examples include smart glasses, fitness trackers, and devices that can be worn on the wrist, head, or fingers to track activity and notifications.
