3. Healthy lifestyles are important and must be taught to
individuals from a young age !
PDHPE teaches students important healthy lifestyle
choices through developing students knowledge,
understandings and practical skills !!
Students are taught that health is the responsibility of all
parts of society – promoting diversity, social justice and
supportive environments.
Students need to know about better health for all people
now and in the future – PDHPE teaches concern for the
rights, welfare and dignity of all people; how structures
and practices effect equity; awareness for disadvantages
and actions; and understanding of how decisions are made
and priorities established.

4. Essential Educational Aspects of PDHPE :
Physical, social, cognitive and emotional growth and
development patterns
- Understanding of life changes and uniqueness of individuals
assists to develop self-confidence, self-acceptance, and capacity
to act in the interests of themselves and others.
The development and maintenance of positive interpersonal
relationships
- Encourages student’s feelings of belonging and security through
interactions with others (family, peers, and teams). Teaches skills of
negotiation, conflict resolution, tolerance, roles, responsibilities and
expectations linked with friendships and relationships.
The factors influencing personal health choices
- Supports with discriminating between conflicting messages and
understanding of health issues. Allows students to make appropriate
decisions and adopt sound community values.

Living and learning in a safe secure environment
- Encourages students to identify situations where their safety may be in
danger and incorporate strategies to look after themselves. Individuals
are trained on how to support their own and others rights to respect and
safety.
The adoption of an active lifestyle
- Teaches balanced lifestyles including regular physical activity for health
and fitness.
Fundamental movement patterns and coordinated actions of the
body
- Fundamental movement skills are taught, practiced and encouraged.
These are important for sport, leisure and recreation options for the
students.
Skills that enable action for better health and movement outcomes
- Students are able to take action leading to improved health, performance and self-esteem
through acquiring skills of communication, interaction, decision making, problem solving,
