*Growing up, my father was an educator who worked with children of migrant farm workers. He often took me with him to visit with the families and encourage them to support their children in their school work. This set a focus for my life's work. I started my teaching career in early childhood education, the place where habits of lifelong learning are established. I moved on to teach both elementary and middle school in rural and urban areas working with gifted and honors students as well as those needing remediation.
