Infection
Advanced Virology
Microbiology Microbial Biotechnology Advanced Mycology
Research Thesis
Thesis Title: Polyhydroxy butyrate (PHB) production by Bacillus sp. isolated from
Mangrove environments of eastern coast of Saudi Arabia.
Identification, isolation and screening of PHB producing bacterial strains from
Saudi Arabian Mangroves.
Staining using Nile Blue stain and visualizing with fluorescent microscope.
Positive samples were cultured with Complex Nitrogen Limiting Medium, isolation
of PHB and characterization using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy,
Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, and Liquid Chromatography-Mass
Spectrometry.
Comparative bioinformatics screening based on Nucleotide Homology &
Phylogenetic analysis yielded a bacterial strain (Bacillus thuringiensis) to be
synthesizing PHB
