Thesis Title: Polyhydroxy butyrate (PHB) production by Bacillus sp. isolated from
Mangrove environments of eastern coast of Saudi Arabia.
 Identification, isolation and screening of PHB producing bacterial strains from
Saudi Arabian Mangroves.
 Staining using Nile Blue stain and visualizing with fluorescent microscope.
 Positive samples were cultured with Complex Nitrogen Limiting Medium, isolation
of PHB and characterization using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy,
Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy, and Liquid Chromatography-Mass
Spectrometry.
 Comparative bioinformatics screening based on Nucleotide Homology &
Phylogenetic analysis yielded a bacterial strain (Bacillus thuringiensis) to be
synthesizing PHB
