4. Importance of Data in Community Development
Planning
• Evidence based planning –
Using best available data,
information and knowledge to
support decision making
• Addressing identified gaps
• Data that is disaggregated to
the lower levels could improve
targeting of limited resources
for better development
results
• Easier to Monitor programme
and project implementation
and correct problems that are
identified
• Data presentation will need to
be simplified.

• Increase funding to the
Education Sector (Build,
Rehabilitate, Expand)
• Promote programmes that
increase Primary and Secondary
school completion rates and
reduce the drop out rate
• Address factors that contribute
to dropout rates (Child
Marriages, Fishing, Distance to
education facilities etc)
• Aim to Keep Girls in School
• Improve targeting of social cash
transfer and subsidies to reduce
poverty

• Data is critical for evidence based development planning
• There is need to strengthen capacity at Community Levels in Zambia to effectively plan
and utilize the increased Constituency Development Plan
• Simplify the data that is produced in reports to ensure that it is understood and utilized
especially at community levels.
