This document summarizes a data analysis of industry trends across 151 US metropolitan areas and 26 industries using data from Indeed.com, the Census Bureau, and the US Bureau of Economics. An interactive Tableau dashboard was created to visualize fluctuations in different industries across areas. Some unique insights highlighted include opportunities for consultants in Charlotte, NC, software jobs in Columbus, OH, and transportation jobs in areas along the Mississippi River. The analysis found an inverse relationship between education requirements of jobs and number of local clicks, indicating jobs requiring less education are more accessible to local workers. However, the document notes job opportunities alone do not equal a healthy local economy or equal access.

There are many job opportunities in freight and
transportation across much of Middle America thanks to the
Mississippi river.
Wichita, KS and Tulsa, OK are ready to explode with
aerospace and defense jobs.
Nashville, TN has a bustling music industry, but no
activity in energy and utilities.
There is an inverse correlation between number of local
clicks and the level of education required to apply.
Areas with jobs that have the lowest education
requirements are receiving the highest number of local
clicks in proportion to total clicks.
Therefore, the educational requirements of the job
determine how accessible the job is to either locals or
outsiders.
