Nature of
service Explanation of service Who will benefit? What will the benefit be?
1
A) Part-time/ interim CFO
Functioning as a part-time or temporary Chief Financial
Officer, reporting to the CEO/Managing Director, with
senior management responsibility for all financial and
accounting matters, including:
· Supervision of the Accounting Department and the
work of the current Financial Controller/Chief
Accountant;
· Review of monthly financial statements and other
accounting reports;
· Overseeing the external audit: selecting the auditor;
ensuring a smooth, cost-effective audit; dealing with
reporting issues;
· Regular communication with the CEO/Managing
Director; and
· Special projects carried out on behalf of the
CEO/Managing Director.
Part-time CFO services will
benefit the CEO/Managing
Director of companies that
function without a CFO because
of their limited size and
resources, but that would value a
CFO-level supervision of the
activities and financial reports by
their Accounting Department
Interim CFO services will benefit
companies:
· with a protracted period
between the planned
departure of the former CFO
and the commencement of
the new CFO;
· with a protracted period until
the commencement of duty
of the first CFO; or
· experiencing the unplanned
departure of their last CFO.
Greater reliability can be placed
by the CEO/Managing Director
and the company’s parent
company, on monthly financial
statements and other
accounting reports.
The CEO/Managing Director can
consult at will with the CFO and
access consultant’s business
acumen and experience
The time of the CEO/Managing
Director is freed up to devote to
other areas of the company’s
operations.
The external audit will be
completed smoothly, cost-effectively
and with a minimum
of reporting issues.

respect to a significant or confidential transaction (e.g.
with a banker or investors) that is not available using
internal resources because of the size, complexity
and/or confidential nature of the transaction
Both parties to the transaction -
senior management and e.g.
banker/investors
Greater speed in preparing for
the transaction
Added professionalism in
written documents and
financial reports
Access to consultant’s business

D) Tools for increased management control and corporate governance
Development of a weekly (or monthly) ‘dashboard’ –a
highly customized operating report, using internal
accounting reports and related operational data, which
interprets financial and operational highlights in a
report that provides senior management with a concise
and current tool for effective management; related staff
training; subsequent monitoring to ensure compliance;
monthly review with the CEO/Managing Director and
identification of remedial action arising from the review
The CEO/Managing Director:
· whose time to spend on
financial and accounting
issues is necessarily
constrained by other
responsibilities; and
· who does not otherwise have
ready and reliable access to
key operational and financial
data
A practical report that
highlights and interprets critical
operational and financial
information for instant
assimilation by the
CEO/Managing Director and
that permits immediate
remedial action to be taken
Review of current accounting procedures and internal
controls; identification of inadequate procedures and
weak controls; preparation of procedure manuals/
update of current manuals to include enhanced
procedures and controls; training of company staff on
new procedures and controls
The CEO/Managing Director and
Directors
Increased confidence in the
company’s current accounting
procedures and internal
controls; the mitigation of the
risk of fraud and accounting
errors
Development of monthly operating budgets and
monthly reports that compare actual to budgeted
amounts and highlights variances; monthly review with
the CEO/Managing Director and identification of
remedial action arising from the review
The CEO/Managing Director
A tool to compare operating
results to realistic expectations
and to identify remedial action
for immediate implementation
