1. 2 How does your media
product represent
particular social groups?
2. How We Represented The
Detective
The detective was first shown and
represented as a detective when he
announces it in a conversation with the
killer. This is necessary as the
Detective wears plain and professional
cloths as if he is undercover
We also used the Lighting of the scene
to represent the detective as official as
When he is seen in his office the
lighting is bright so that he is clearly
seen by the audience.
At one point in the film we see that the
Detective no longer has power over
what is happening. This is seen as we
have used a high camera angle.
3. How we represented the Killer
Throughout the film the killer was wearing
dark cloths. This instantly give the
audience the idea that this is the killer and
that he is dangerous. This is because the
Dark/black clothing worn by the killer is
stereotypically linked with a dangerous
character in any film.
The lighting is also used to represent the
killer and dangerous as throughout the first
conversation he has with the detective is in
a dark room with virtually no light,
because of this and the camera angle you
can not clearly see the killers face.
Depending on the time in the film, we used
different camera angles for the killer.
Throughout the film we have used camera
angles that do not allow the audience to
clearly see the killers face and at times
where he has control over what is
happening we have either used neutral or
low angle camera shots.
4. In General
In general I think that our film went along
with many of the stereotypes that surround
both of the character types we have
presented.
The killer wears dark/black cloths throughout
the film and like in many films his true
identity is not known in the beginning of the
film.
Our detective wears smart and professional
cloths throughout the film and in the
beginning of the film is unaware of the cards
