2. On Friday, Ariana Madix reposted a video to her Instagram Story that
showed her singing her heart out with Scheana Shay, Lala Kent, Katie
Maloney, Kristen Doute and Brittany Cartwright to *NSYNC‟s 2000 hit
single, “Bye, Bye, Bye.”
The group‟s performance included a special appearance by Lance Bass,
who was one-fifth of the boy band alongside Justin Timberlake, Joey
Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick and JC Chasez. (Bass, 44, also happens to be
a good pal of VPR doyenne Lisa Vanderpump.)
The video slowly pans around the room to show Bass dancing and
singing to his song, surrounded by the women, who can be seen
laughing and holding out the last note in the track‟s bridge.
3. The video comes just days after the members of *NSYNC reunited
during their surprise appearance at the 2023 MTV Video Music
Awards on Tuesday.
While presenting Taylor Swift the award for best pop video, the
beloved ‟90s boy band gifted Swift, 33, a set of beaded friendship
bracelets. Fans of the singer have made swapping friendship bracelets
a tradition throughout her record-breaking Eras Tour, making it a
memorable onstage moment.
4. After being handed the Moon Person and the bracelets by Bass, Swift
began her acceptance speech by expressing her excitement to see the
band reunited.
“You‟re pop personified, so to receive this from your golden pop hands
is really … it‟s too much,” she said. “Thank you for the friendship
bracelets.”
Following their viral reunion, the boy band announced they would be
releasing their first new song in over two decades on Thursday. The
track will be called “Better Place,” and will be featured in the
soundtrack for Universal‟s upcoming film, Trolls Band Together.
5. Timberlake, 42, later posted a behind-the-scenes video of the group
recording the track in the studio on Instagram.
“So many stars aligned,” he said in the clip while addressing his
bandmates. “That‟s why I hit y‟all, I was like, „Hey, something came
up.‟ If we do this song, it‟s a love letter to our fans. I would be honored
to have the group on this song.”
The band appeared to be having fun in the video, from their quirky
dances and warm embraces to head-bobbing to the disco-sounding
track.
6. “Sounds good, sounds like it‟s finished,” Kirkpatrick added in the clip,
before Bass guesstimated that it was the “first *NSYNC song finished in
23 years.”
“When the stars align… got my brothers back together in the studio to
work on something fun and the energy was special,” Timberlake
captioned his video. “„Better Place‟ is coming 9/29 LOVE Y‟ALL.”
