coupling/shaft alignment is shown as in
figure given.
Preparation
Heating Oil Pump Coupling Alignment
1. First step in any alignment process is
to find the datum point.
2. Knowledge in GD&T or machining
process will have a significant
advantage in determining the
location of any datum point. The best
hint is finding out which part had
been machined.
4. Hence, we should remove the tyre
element as it will interfere with the
alignment against the selected
datum.
3. This radial side of the coupling halves
will be selected as our datum
reference point.
5. Use 5mm Allen key to loosen the
clamping mechanism of the coupling
halves.

The tyre element should can be easily
pried open.

1. Remove the tyre element.
2. The clamping pad can be left on the
coupling halves as long as it does not
interfere with the alignment process.
For the purpose of better illustration, the
clamping pad is removed
Prepare the radial surface or rim of the
coupling halves. Remove any burr and
rough edges.
Parallel Offset Alignment

1. Check for parallel offset.
2. Touch a straight edge, flat against the
radial surface of the rim.
3. Touch at 3 and 9 o’clock to check for
parallel horizontal.

1. Touch at 12 and 6 o’clock to check for
parallel vertical.
2. Use a light source to your advantage;
any light pass through the gap
indicates a parallel misalign
(translation).
3. Add shim according to the gap size.

Angular Alignment
1. Check for angular alignment.
2. Measure the gap of the coupling
distance with a caliper.
3. Measure at 3 and 9 o’clock to check
for angular horizontal.

Finishing
Heating Oil Pump Coupling Alignment
1. Make adjustment for parallel and
angular misalign.
2. Re-install clamping pad
Reinstall tyre element.
For perfect fitment:
1. Align the cut of the tyre element in
between clamping screw.
2. Align the driver coupling screw to the
driven coupling screw.
3. Tighten only the indicated screw (🔧)
on both side of the coupling to lock
the tyre element.

1. Tighten the clamping screw in a
clockwise rotation while holding
down / closing the gap of the tyre
element
2. Close the gap as small as possible to
avoid tyre wrinkle during its high
torque operation.
1. Inspect the coupling assembly by
rotating it with hand.
2. The coupling should rotate smoothly
with no ackward wobble or hop. If so,
indicate an angular misalignment.
3. The coupling should not roll back
against the rotation when hand is
lifted. If so, indicate an angular
misalignment.
