Jihad or Terrorism- a critical Analysis
Terrorism is a rebellion of a group of people, who unite to oppose something. The term terrorism refers
that the group develops terror. It is a very confusing term, since the person who faces terror is very
much uncertain here. The terror may be for the common mass, may be for a particular body even. The
person or the group who faces the threat depends on the type or pattern of terrorism. So, the terror is
for that person or that group, against whom the rebellion has been raised. (Abou El Fadl, K., 2001). Now
what is a Jihad? Jihad essentially means to fight against sin. Now deciding, who a sin is, depends on the
religious terminologies only. However, when someone finds discrimination in their own nation with
others, who are foreigners, then also, it is said to be a Jihad.
Who faces the terror from the terrorists and jihadist?
Generally terrorism rises in protest of a government, a government leader or even a government style, if
it’s a political terrorism. There are other forms of terrorism too. Terrorism might be against a religion or
the people who practices or supports a religion too. Terrorism may be against the society also, where
the society and the societal beings are blamed. The blame is often of torture. But there are other blames
also. (Baylis, J. and Smith, S., 2001) Exploitation of other religion and the people following that religion is
often an issue of terrorism. There are several issues in the historical past, where the blame is to exploit
the society or a nation. Then the terrorism is raised against the person or that group of persons, who are
blamed to exploit the state. (Williams, M., 2003)
Jihadist on the other hand threatens the ruling system and the government. Since, the Jihadist struggle
against the foreigner’s importance in his or her own nation, the threat directly goes to the government
and the foreigners too. (Bergen, P. 2001) However, it depends on the group of the Jihadist, whether
they attack the foreigners or not. If they are having their objective perfectly balanced, and if they are
focused to the objective, then usually they won’t target the foreigners. They think that disturbing them
would spread wrong names on their own nation.
Types of terrorism among Jihadists
A political rebellion can be against the political party or can even be against few political leaders. The
chances of terrorism there is least, since there is the chance to change the government through
election. (Christensen, T., Laegreid, P. and Rykkja, L. 2013) If the nation’s rule does not support
democracy, then the chance of terrorism for such issues increases. The political terrorism is mainly
against the ruling method of the government. If that nation follows democracy, then the entire society is
blamed for the activities. This makes the total society as the target for the rebellion team or the
terrorists. (Cooley, J., 2000) Under such condition, it becomes easy for the government to mark the
rebellion team as terrorist group, as societal harms are caused by them.
Jihadist on the other hand starts their rebellion in the form of non-violent attacks. When they sit
repetitively on the negotiation table and find no result, then they go for the violent attack.
Website: www.no1homeworkhelp.com, Tel No. : +1-646-693-7575 (USA)
Harmful effects, Jihadists may provide
The major harm that a jihadist provides to a nation and to the international world is essentially an
economic damage. The violent attacks that they usually provide to the nation and to the international
citizens are targeted are essentially to make the nation weaken from all aspects, including the aspects
like economical, political, social and security. (Darity, W. 2008) Thus in one word, it can be said that they
harms the nations in such a way that the national backbone breaks down and they have to suffer a lot.
This suffering will create a situation, where the nations have to accept their words. This is the ideology
of the Jihadists, in general. (Drucker, P. 1998)
Terrorist types among the Jihadist
Thus terrorism can be of two types. One is a non-violent and other is the violent terrorism. Dividing the
group of rebellion has been proven to be a perfect tool to de-synchronize the rebellions. A non-violent
rebellion is very much tough to be handled. Dividing the rebellions can even be more dangerous. The
break up creates more violent teams. (Drumbl, M., 2002) Each team will have its own strategy of attack.
Thus the government has to tackle different sets of Protestants at the same time. One thing is that the
violent attacks are easily marked as an act of terrorism, as that provides a real threat to the general
citizens. Jihadist on the other hand starts their rebellion in the form of non-violent attacks. When they
sit repetitively on the negotiation table and find no result, then they go for the violent attack.
How to decide the right act of Jihadists
Jihadists are the type of terrorist who fights for their own existence. The existence might be of their
Religion, or may be the freedom as a citizen. Freedom fighters usually take the violent route, when they
have no other means to struggle. Since, they have the sentiment of the national interest, and they also
have the sentiment of harming the people of their own nation, they always try to deal in the non-violent
way, but if that is not accepted by any means, they go for the violent attacks. However the weapons or
the missiles that they use in the violent war are generally supplied by the enemy neighbor nation, to
gain their political importance in the globe. (Eisenman, R., 2008) Government generally identifies the
common people, who got injury or even death as common and general mass, but if they are involved in
the wrong-act, then they cannot be general mass. If the common mass and the general citizens are
provided with a power to elect and given power for self-rule and then also they are supporting the
corruption and exploitation of government, then they cannot be some unknowing people. (Gage, B.
2009) If they are having that power to make a government by their own, and still they are taking active
participation in the governments misacts and misdeeds, then how can they be treated as common
fellows?
Thus, to decide whether a Jihadist activity is justified or not, the political or religious aim has to be
known. Against who is their rebellion is to be identified. What is the justification of the rebellion is to be
enclosed and disclosed; otherwise it is impossible for anyone to identify a group as a terrorist group.
(Gunaratna, R., 2002) Then also, if somebody does, then he or she must be coerced by the government,
Website: www.no1homeworkhelp.com, Tel No. : +1-646-693-7575 (USA)
or must believe the government blindly, or might be taking active participation in the governments’
exploitation acts.
About today’s Jihad activities
The popular name of the terrorist groups, heard all around, is two. The JI and the Al Qaida are the two
famous groups. (Henderson, H., 2001) Here the thing that is to be extracted is their activities and the
justification of their activities. So, the above pattern of analysis may easily be used here. This will reveal
the truth about the terrorist activities, easily and transparently. The most popular name that always
disturbs the international political equations is the Palestine-Islamic-Jihad (PIJ). They are fully Jihadist, as
the group was formed with that interest only.
A little about the Jihadist Groups
PIJ was established in Gaza around 70s by Dr. Shaqaqi and Awda and few other radicals of Palestine.
Based on the different embarrassing situations, they formed the group at Gaza, although the origin of
their activities was at Egypt. They were connected with the Al Qaida team rigorously, and they also took
different help in arm and planning from the Qaida. In 2002, a major international attack at the nightclub
of Bali claimed more than 200 lives. (Hillstrom, K., 2012) Before that the attack of Al Qaida at WTC
claimed thousands of lives and devastated the economy of US. Since the Al Qaida’s attack was followed
with JI’s attack at Bali, it is often thought by the international affair ministries that JI has been a branch
of Al Qaida, but historical analysis says something else.
Major harmful events
• The most devastating terrorist attack was at WTC on 9/11 by the Al Qaida group, under the
leadership of Osama Bin Laden. The master plan has given a real threat to the US government.
(Larson, E., n.d.)
• A repeated attack at the metro stations and metro rails at London again claimed many lives.
• Attack at the Bali nightclub claimed more than 200 lives in 2002. Earlier in 2001, 15 people of JI
have been arrested. (Lehto, M., 2009)
• Killed Commander of Gaza in August, 1987
• Attacked a bus and claimed 14 lives in July, 1989
• Attacked a bus carrying Israelis, killed 11 lives in February, 1990
• Killed 9 and injured 50 in a car bombing in April, 94
• Killed 18 soldiers and 1 civilian through bombing at Netanya on January, 1995 (Weldon, C., 2005)
• Killed 20 in a shopping mall on March, 96
• Bombing at Jerusalem killed 2 in November, 2000
Identifying the terrorist motive and way of acting
In several interrogations and Interviews, it has been understood that the PIJ works for their re-
establishment in their own nation only. The main grievances that have motivated them in their action is
Website: www.no1homeworkhelp.com, Tel No. : +1-646-693-7575 (USA)
the discrimination between them and the other Israelis. The situation is so harsh that they are ready to
stay with the Jewish, but they are not ready to get a part of the nation. (McGregor, H., 2008) The
discrimination they faced, have suppressed them in such a way, that they even cannot meet their family
even in the nation, and that is the reason, why they are aggrieved with the action. Whatever the reason
may be, the motive of the terrorist group is to destroy the economy of them, on basis of which they are
showing supremacy over mankind. (Moore, R., 2004) Their intention is to destroy the economic panel of
the nation and also the social pattern of the nation. Their action has never been intended at the foreign
camp. This is best seen from their actions only. (Psychotherapy and Politics International Volume 11,
2013)
Knowing the organizational strength and financial support provided to them
The nation that is most supportive to the PIJ is the Iran. The main motto of the group is to get a new
Islamic nation. The funds and the weapons they are getting are all from Iran and Sudan. The nations
provide adequate fund for the freedom movement and the fund is perfectly utilized by the PIJ also. They
not only use the fund for getting the weapons, but they also use this fund for the development of
Israelis. The fund is used for donation at the NGOs and also for the development of education at Israel.
The motive of the education is to understand Jihad, Islamic thoughts and to make the students equip for
tomorrows free Islamic State. (Hatina, M., 2001)
Knowing the Goal and identifying their consideration
The goal of the PIJs is not to provide harm to the international affairs or not to make the nation look
down in any way in the international political scenario. This thing is best exhibited in their activity. The
different attacks, they have made are based on the Israelis alone. Their attack have claimed a very few
non-Israeli lives and that is an indication that they are not doing anything to get any international
importance, rather they are trying their best to make the world understand that they are doing
everything to make their own nation free from external affairs. They want to declare one thing distinctly
that they are freedom fighters, and their entire struggle is to make the nation free from anti-Islamic
interference. Thus they are willing for a nation that is free from all the Non-Islamic hands and get a
totally free Islamic Republic. (Sanín, F. and Giustozzi, A., 2010) A group, who is going ahead with their
struggle for freedom is always to be considered as the right-doers, if their ideology is right on the
objective. However, one may also say that at no cost, a nation must accept the loss of lives. The word is
accurate and that is definitely a critical area for understanding from both the groups, who are ruling and
who are seeking freedom. (Saul, B., 2012)
Conclusion
Thus, a conclusion can be drawn on the topic that, terrorist are often given the name as thus, by the
person, group or the group, who faces the terror. Terrorism is basically a rebellion against a practice or a
style of rule. They can be violent or non-violent also. The current attacking terrorist groups of Al Qaida
and JI are targeting the US government and the European nations. (Williams, P., 2002) They are often
referred as the Jihadist, and the powerful nations try to proof them as anti-Christ, or anti-Religious.
Website: www.no1homeworkhelp.com, Tel No. : +1-646-693-7575 (USA)
However their works and the attacks never really proved them as Anti-Christ or Anti-Islamic. They are
often regarded as some groups as mass killer. The mass killing is however not their target. Their motive
can be easily made known to the mass, as they have the target to free the nation. However their every
try has been negated by the powerful nations. This shows that they are trying the mass to remain
unaware of the motive of the terrorist.

(Williams, M., 2003) Jihadist on the other hand threatens the ruling system and the government. Since, the Jihadist struggle against the foreigner’s importance in his or her own nation, the threat directly goes to the government and the foreigners too. (Bergen, P. 2001) However, it depends on the group of the Jihadist, whether they attack the foreigners or not. If they are having their objective perfectly balanced, and if they are focused to the objective, then usually they won’t target the foreigners. They think that disturbing them would spread wrong names on their own nation. Types of terrorism among Jihadists A political rebellion can be against the political party or can even be against few political leaders. The chances of terrorism there is least, since there is the chance to change the government through election. (Christensen, T., Laegreid, P. and Rykkja, L. 2013) If the nation’s rule does not support democracy, then the chance of terrorism for such issues increases. The political terrorism is mainly against the ruling method of the government. If that nation follows democracy, then the entire society is blamed for the activities. This makes the total society as the target for the rebellion team or the terrorists. (Cooley, J., 2000) Under such condition, it becomes easy for the government to mark the rebellion team as terrorist group, as societal harms are caused by them. Jihadist on the other hand starts their rebellion in the form of non-violent attacks. When they sit repetitively on the negotiation table and find no result, then they go for the violent attack.

The violent attacks that they usually provide to the nation and to the international citizens are targeted are essentially to make the nation weaken from all aspects, including the aspects like economical, political, social and security. (Darity, W. 2008) Thus in one word, it can be said that they harms the nations in such a way that the national backbone breaks down and they have to suffer a lot. This suffering will create a situation, where the nations have to accept their words. This is the ideology of the Jihadists, in general. (Drucker, P. 1998) Terrorist types among the Jihadist Thus terrorism can be of two types. One is a non-violent and other is the violent terrorism. Dividing the group of rebellion has been proven to be a perfect tool to de-synchronize the rebellions. A non-violent rebellion is very much tough to be handled. Dividing the rebellions can even be more dangerous. The break up creates more violent teams. (Drumbl, M., 2002) Each team will have its own strategy of attack. Thus the government has to tackle different sets of Protestants at the same time. One thing is that the violent attacks are easily marked as an act of terrorism, as that provides a real threat to the general citizens. Jihadist on the other hand starts their rebellion in the form of non-violent attacks. When they sit repetitively on the negotiation table and find no result, then they go for the violent attack. How to decide the right act of Jihadists Jihadists are the type of terrorist who fights for their own existence. The existence might be of their Religion, or may be the freedom as a citizen. Freedom fighters usually take the violent route, when they have no other means to struggle. Since, they have the sentiment of the national interest, and they also have the sentiment of harming the people of their own nation, they always try to deal in the non-violent way, but if that is not accepted by any means, they go for the violent attacks. However the weapons or the missiles that they use in the violent war are generally supplied by the enemy neighbor nation, to gain their political importance in the globe. (Eisenman, R., 2008) Government generally identifies the common people, who got injury or even death as common and general mass, but if they are involved in the wrong-act, then they cannot be general mass. If the common mass and the general citizens are provided with a power to elect and given power for self-rule and then also they are supporting the corruption and exploitation of government, then they cannot be some unknowing people. (Gage, B. 2009) If they are having that power to make a government by their own, and still they are taking active participation in the governments misacts and misdeeds, then how can they be treated as common fellows? Thus, to decide whether a Jihadist activity is justified or not, the political or religious aim has to be known. Against who is their rebellion is to be identified. What is the justification of the rebellion is to be enclosed and disclosed; otherwise it is impossible for anyone to identify a group as a terrorist group. (Gunaratna, R., 2002) Then also, if somebody does, then he or she must be coerced by the government,

About today’s Jihad activities The popular name of the terrorist groups, heard all around, is two. The JI and the Al Qaida are the two famous groups. (Henderson, H., 2001) Here the thing that is to be extracted is their activities and the justification of their activities. So, the above pattern of analysis may easily be used here. This will reveal the truth about the terrorist activities, easily and transparently. The most popular name that always disturbs the international political equations is the Palestine-Islamic-Jihad (PIJ). They are fully Jihadist, as the group was formed with that interest only. A little about the Jihadist Groups PIJ was established in Gaza around 70s by Dr. Shaqaqi and Awda and few other radicals of Palestine. Based on the different embarrassing situations, they formed the group at Gaza, although the origin of their activities was at Egypt. They were connected with the Al Qaida team rigorously, and they also took different help in arm and planning from the Qaida. In 2002, a major international attack at the nightclub of Bali claimed more than 200 lives. (Hillstrom, K., 2012) Before that the attack of Al Qaida at WTC claimed thousands of lives and devastated the economy of US. Since the Al Qaida’s attack was followed with JI’s attack at Bali, it is often thought by the international affair ministries that JI has been a branch of Al Qaida, but historical analysis says something else. Major harmful events • The most devastating terrorist attack was at WTC on 9/11 by the Al Qaida group, under the leadership of Osama Bin Laden. The master plan has given a real threat to the US government. (Larson, E., n.d.) • A repeated attack at the metro stations and metro rails at London again claimed many lives. • Attack at the Bali nightclub claimed more than 200 lives in 2002. Earlier in 2001, 15 people of JI have been arrested. (Lehto, M., 2009) • Killed Commander of Gaza in August, 1987 • Attacked a bus and claimed 14 lives in July, 1989 • Attacked a bus carrying Israelis, killed 11 lives in February, 1990 • Killed 9 and injured 50 in a car bombing in April, 94 • Killed 18 soldiers and 1 civilian through bombing at Netanya on January, 1995 (Weldon, C., 2005) • Killed 20 in a shopping mall on March, 96 • Bombing at Jerusalem killed 2 in November, 2000 Identifying the terrorist motive and way of acting In several interrogations and Interviews, it has been understood that the PIJ works for their re- establishment in their own nation only. The main grievances that have motivated them in their action is
  • 5. Website: www.no1homeworkhelp.com, Tel No. : +1-646-693-7575 (USA) the discrimination between them and the other Israelis. The situation is so harsh that they are ready to stay with the Jewish, but they are not ready to get a part of the nation. (McGregor, H., 2008) The discrimination they faced, have suppressed them in such a way, that they even cannot meet their family even in the nation, and that is the reason, why they are aggrieved with the action. Whatever the reason may be, the motive of the terrorist group is to destroy the economy of them, on basis of which they are showing supremacy over mankind. (Moore, R., 2004) Their intention is to destroy the economic panel of the nation and also the social pattern of the nation. Their action has never been intended at the foreign camp. This is best seen from their actions only. (Psychotherapy and Politics International Volume 11, 2013) Knowing the organizational strength and financial support provided to them The nation that is most supportive to the PIJ is the Iran. The main motto of the group is to get a new Islamic nation. The funds and the weapons they are getting are all from Iran and Sudan. The nations provide adequate fund for the freedom movement and the fund is perfectly utilized by the PIJ also. They not only use the fund for getting the weapons, but they also use this fund for the development of Israelis. The fund is used for donation at the NGOs and also for the development of education at Israel. The motive of the education is to understand Jihad, Islamic thoughts and to make the students equip for tomorrows free Islamic State. (Hatina, M., 2001) Knowing the Goal and identifying their consideration The goal of the PIJs is not to provide harm to the international affairs or not to make the nation look down in any way in the international political scenario. This thing is best exhibited in their activity. The different attacks, they have made are based on the Israelis alone. Their attack have claimed a very few non-Israeli lives and that is an indication that they are not doing anything to get any international importance, rather they are trying their best to make the world understand that they are doing everything to make their own nation free from external affairs. They want to declare one thing distinctly that they are freedom fighters, and their entire struggle is to make the nation free from anti-Islamic interference. Thus they are willing for a nation that is free from all the Non-Islamic hands and get a totally free Islamic Republic. (Sanín, F. and Giustozzi, A., 2010) A group, who is going ahead with their struggle for freedom is always to be considered as the right-doers, if their ideology is right on the objective. However, one may also say that at no cost, a nation must accept the loss of lives. The word is accurate and that is definitely a critical area for understanding from both the groups, who are ruling and who are seeking freedom. (Saul, B., 2012) Conclusion Thus, a conclusion can be drawn on the topic that, terrorist are often given the name as thus, by the person, group or the group, who faces the terror. Terrorism is basically a rebellion against a practice or a style of rule. They can be violent or non-violent also. The current attacking terrorist groups of Al Qaida and JI are targeting the US government and the European nations. (Williams, P., 2002) They are often referred as the Jihadist, and the powerful nations try to proof them as anti-Christ, or anti-Religious.
  • 6. Website: www.no1homeworkhelp.com, Tel No. : +1-646-693-7575 (USA) However their works and the attacks never really proved them as Anti-Christ or Anti-Islamic. They are often regarded as some groups as mass killer. The mass killing is however not their target. Their motive can be easily made known to the mass, as they have the target to free the nation. However their every try has been negated by the powerful nations. This shows that they are trying the mass to remain unaware of the motive of the terrorist.
