The reasons why a person might play a video game greatly from each individual, whether based around age or even the culture they were brought up with.
One of the many reasons people play games is the feeling of achievement. These kinds of games are good at using rewards such as unlockable items and higher
ranks to make gamers feel good about getting that achievement and want to play more.
Another reason we play games is the feeling of importance and control. In these kinds of games, players can feel as though they can have an impact over the
storyline based on the choices they make or, in the case of the Sims, have complete control over the lives of their Sims if they want to.
Game companies know that multiplayer options can be a big draw to their games as it allows players to share their gaming experiences and make new ones
with other people. While players can benefit from other reasons games are fun, they can also enjoy these with friends or family that they may otherwise not be
able to see or as part of their time together.
As well as fulfilling our psychological needs, studies have also shown that it is possible that improved eyesight and concentration can be a benefit of playing
video games. In some cases, playing games can even slow the aging process of the brain by up to seven years. Some people have even admitted to how video
games can help them release bottled up anger in a way that has much less of a chance that it is taken out on another person. This doesn’t necessarily mean
that people who play violent games will become violent and replicate the situations in real life because they know that this is a game and that circumstances
are different when people are real and when people are not. Viewpoints on video games are changing, and some people are realising that it could be described
as a form of art with all the time and dedication it takes to make these immersive games. With the graphics used now, they could be compared to a film, with
the difference being that the player has control over the character rather than just watching what they do. They are even starting to incorporate simulation like
games into the real world to train certain job roles that benefit from practical tutoring that might otherwise be difficult, such as surgeons and pilots.
