The way opposites are used to create interest in media texts. A
few examples are:
Hot/Cold
Good/Bad
Black/White
Youth/Age

3. STEREOTYPE
Are qualities assigned to groups of people related to their race,
nationality and sexual orientation, to name a few. Because they
generalize groups of people in manners that lead to
discrimination and ignore the diversity within groups, stereotypes
should be avoided.

4. REPRESENTS
The way in which the media "re-presents" the world around us in
the form of signs and codes for audiences to read.

5. GENRE
A way of categorising a media text according to its form, style
and content. A few examples of different types of genres are:
Comedy
Horror
Romance

6. HYPERBOLE
Exaggerated claims or statements not meant to be taken literally
which are used for. effect or emphasis

7. ANDROGYNOUS
Having the characteristics of both male and female.

8. SUBJUGATE
To empower or enslave, to bring under control.

9. HEDONISTIC
A person whose life is devoted to the pursuit of pleasure and
self-gratification.
