LABOR DAY
Labor Day in the United States of America is a public holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. It honors
the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the development, growth, endurance,
strength, security, prosperity, productivity, laws, sustainability, persistence, structure, and well-being of the country. It is
the Monday of the long weekend known as Labor Day Weekend. It is recognized as a federal holiday. It is said you
shouldn’t wear “White” after Labor Day in the United States. In fact, not everyone follows this “silly” rule. This tendency
is about the customs of an old society and its social levels. Believe me, it does not make any sense. Many people
nowadays wear white because Labor day marks the end of summer, so it makes sense to wear light clothes.

e bem-estar do país.
branco porque o Dia do Trabalho marca o fim do verão, então faz sentido usar roupas leves.

FESTA JUNINA
The Festa Junina are festivities that take place in
June in Brazil and are extremely popular
throughout the country and among all social
classes. Originally called joanina from São João,
they celebrate the Catholic Saints: Saint Anthony
– 13th June, Saint John – 24th June and Saint
Peter – 29th June.
The church fair, usually with a charity bazaar, is
called a quermesse. The festivities also celebrate
rural life and feature typical dress, food and dance.
They usually take place in a large open space
outdoors called an arraial and people dress up as
farmers, or country folk (caipira) with straw hats
and checked shirts or dresses. São João
celebrates marriage, so couples dance a kind of
square dance called a quadrilha which features a
mock wedding with the bride and groom. June is
the time of the corn harvest, so special dishes are
prepared made with corn. Canjica is made from
grated corn and coconut, boiled with water, milk,
sugar and cinnamon. Pamonha is a sweet
concoction of corn paste which is rolled and baked
in fresh cornhusks. Pinhão, an edible pine seed is
also very popular. A typical drink is the quentão. As
the name
suggests, this
is a hot
alcoholic drink
with ginger
and usually
cachaça – a
kind of rum
made from
sugar cane and commonly known as pinga.
Bonfires and firework displays are also important
features of these colourful two-week celebrations.

As
festividades também celebram a vida rural e
apresentam roupas típicas, comida e dança. Eles
Fogueiras e
fogos de artifício também são características
importantes dessas celebrações coloridas de duas
semanas.

It was only later, by chance, that Miller found Ryan. The latter is responsible for monitoring a very important bridge over
the Merderet.
The captain announces that he has lost his three brothers and that he has to go home, but Ryan does not want to abandon
his friends who defended this bridge as much as he did. Miller decides to stay a little with Ryan and wait for the American
reinforcements. But he knows that the Germans will attack before the arrival of these reinforcements. Then he decides to fortify
the city in view of the enemy attack.

MY LIFE THIS YEAR (MONTHS)
Hi! My name is Rebbeca and I would like to talk
about my life this year. First of all, if I want to travel
with my family in July when I will be free from
school on my school holidays, I should start
studying a lot right now to recover my grades. I
scored badly this semester. Tod ay is June eleventh
of 2019, so I have only a few weeks left. My family
planned this traveling last year in February. And
my father advised me I should get a great score in
2019. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. However, I
will dedicate now to nail it. I’m always a good
student, but I recognize I was fooling around
instead of study seriously. Well, this is life! My
grandmother always says it. By the way, she’s
coming to visit us on August, twenty-fourth. It will
be very cool! I love her! She will return to her
house only in September. I’m looking forward to
seeing her!

LET’S CHECK YOUR EXERCISE OUT!
Oi!
Eu amo ela! Ela só retornará a
sua casa em setembro. Estou ansioso para vê-la!
