• She feels like she could’ve done something
• Surprised that it happened to her
• Doesn’t even trust her sister, even though she believes her sister would
be supportive

• She could’ve locked the door, even though she knows there wasn’t a lock
• Could’ve worn heavier pajamas
• Scared her sister will turn her back on her
• Probably thought the same thing with her friend – scared that she would
turn her back on her if she knew
• Feels like she has no one to turn to
• Only told her boyfriend, so there’s a lot of pressure there
• Blaming herself – was she unintentionally flirting?

What can we do?
• Find multiple people to talk to
• Survivors can reassure supporters
• Be a voice to advocate for people. Inspire, make space for others to
speak up
• Practice positive psychological self-care
• If you don’t know how to help, know what resources are available
• Give yourself time to mourn, then find someone you trust to talk about it
• Educate ourselves. Become an advocate, or take gender studies
• Be an activist so we can change the culture
• Survivors – remind ourselves that it wasn’t us. It wasn’t our fault.
