I worked with indigenous people and service providers to ensure that municipal
services were maintained in accordance with the Council business plan and
budget, by developing project plans, action plans and reporting on a regular
basis. I was responsible for tenancy management and maintenance of 100 NT
Housing, properties in Hermannsburg. In 2012 I worked collaboratively with NT
Housing, the local community, representatives, architects and builders in the
construction of thirty- two new houses and the complete refurbishment of sixty
eight existing properties.

Key to this role was my ability to engage the community in ownership of their
town by being an effective respectful communicator with the Local Reference
Group, Local Council members and individuals. I provided mentoring, training
and supervision to some 50 indigenous staff, including trainees working in Aged
Care, Child Care, Youth Development and Night Patrol Services teams and
municipal services plus recruited and trained staff across a broad range of jobs.
As a resident of this community I took an active part in assisting with community
events that were extraneous to my role.

Responsible for the overall management of the municipal services in thirteen
remote communities located in the APY Lands in South Australia. Duties
included the recruitment, training and mentoring of local indigenous people and
their managers, various project management funded by government grants, grant
applications and submissions to government, waste management, internal road
maintenance, dust control, risk assessment and OH&S, fire prevention
strategies, maintenance of plant and equipment and maintaining a good working
relationship with community leaders and members, other service providers and
