Treatment
Introduction
Blow the Whistle would be a radio show that airs on 1490 WDAN every Sunday
beginning at noon. The host would be Matthew Gocken every week. The radio show
would start with the Blow the Whistle intro that has been proposed. Then, the show
would be live on 1490 WDAN for one hour with three commercials breaks with a
hard break at 12:59 p.m. to play the local news for one minute. Blow the Whistle
would feature special guests every week, interviews with college coaches, and phone
calls from around the area.
The show would consist of college basketball teams that would be playing in key
games during the upcoming week. Matthew would set up each team by telling a good
story. Then, he would have the coach interview, and take phone calls from around the
nation.
Interviews
The interviews would be set up a week in advance. Matthew would get ahold of the
Sports Information Director at each college to set up a date and time for the interview.
The interviews would be played on air, but the interview itself would be prerecorded

for playback during the live show. The interviews will change each week. The
coaches may appear more than once on the show too.
The coaches would be a series of question from Matthew that would be open ended
questions. This is a technique for the coach to describe his team for the audience.
Original Plans
Blow the Whistle wanted to go live on Sunday from college basketball arenas around
the nation. Plans were turned down by universities.
Revising the Plan
Blow the Whistle was unable to go live on the set of college campuses. The plan is to
be live in the studio every week. This will save the company money, hassles, and
equipment failures. Matthew would be the only person in the studio. The reason is
Matthew would be the person to blame if something goes wrong. He would play the
intro, be live on the air, play commercial breaks, and make sure the radio station stays
on the air after the show.
Construction Begins
Blow the Whistle would be given a month test run. This way the radio station could
get ratings and feedback from the show. The radio station would gain attention
because it would attract people from different states. Also, if you miss the show the
podcast would be uploaded online to Vermilion County First. This is another way to
promote the radio station by directing attention to the station website.

Approval
Blow the Whistle still needs approval. The noon hour on Sunday is filled with ESPN
Radio. We do not have to run this content on the air. Therefore, Blow the Whistle will
be available to play during the one hour time block. The show needs to go through the
company president, general manager, and operation manager to make sure everyone
is on the same page. The approval is still in process.
Completion
The Blow the Whistle promo would air once a day on 1490 WDAN to attract
listeners. The Blow the Whistle opener has been completed. Also, the plans have been
mapped out. The show is completed, and now waiting for approval.
Conclusion
Blow the Whistle would be a great sports show to add to Danville’s Talk Station 1490
WDAN. It would provide insight to college basketball fans around the nation. The
radio station would receive attention. Also, it would promote our podcast page. This
would send people to our website. This could expand our radio station brand and
website name across the country. Blow the Whistle would be a one month test run.
The show could be easily cancelled. There is no harm in this project. Matthew and the
guests would not take any additional money to do the show. The radio station and
studio provides everything they need. This show is a great way to put the radio station
and website on the map.
