The South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC) TV Network - SABC1, SABC2 and SABC3 channels have presented a stimulating and refurbished schedule, complete with brand new local content, slot changes and a list of remarkable new personalities.
These changes form part of the corporation’s decision to increase local content to 80% on television and it is in this context that the SABC continues to ensure that we are at the forefront of contributing into the growth of the television industry.

SABC TV NETWORK TAKES IT TO 80% LOCAL
Johannesburg – Wednesday, 22 June 2016- The South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC) TV
Network - SABC1, SABC2 and SABC3 channels have presented a stimulating and refurbished schedule,
complete with brand new local content, slot changes and a list of remarkable new personalities.
These changes form part of the corporation’s decision to increase local content to 80% on television and it is in
this context that the SABC continues to ensure that we are at the forefront of contributing into the growth of the
television industry.
The SABC’s Chief Operations Officer (COO), Mr. Hlaudi Motsoeneng stated “As an organization we are moving
towards an era of great transformation in terms of programming, where all these changes are aimed at placing
our audience’s needs and wants”.
“The SABC firmly believes in delivering on its mandate to promote local contentand this decision to increase the
local quota on television will not only yield an increased audience share, but will further contribute to the South
African public being proud of its quality local content” Mr Motsoeneng further stated.
Starting from Monday, the 4th
of July 2016, the SABC will be introducing major changes on its television platform
as follows:
SABC1
The schedule will remain stable in both prime time and day time offerings. Viewers can look forward to catching
their favourite dramas, entertainment and factual / current affairs offerings in their usual time slots.
SABC 2
In light of the SABC’s commitment to increase local content on the public broadcaster’s platforms, SABC2 will
from Monday the 4th
of July 2016 introduce the channel’ schedule changes as indicated below.

SABC3 not only brings viewers a brand new look and feel but for the first time in the history of the channel,
SABC3 will now be broadcasting 80% local and 20% foreign content. The channel will continue to bring its
viewers exciting, cheerful and relatable viewing with a selection of exciting dramas and reality shows.
4. SABC3 audiences can also look forward to some exciting new shows including new local comedy dramas, local
realities, local travel and the best local food that our country has to offer.

WEEKDAYS:
The channel has introduced several changes to the weekday primetime schedule:
During July the repeat of the Bold and the Beautiful will be moving to 10:00.
Meanwhile your favourite breakfast show Expresso can now be enjoyed for an extra half hour from
6:00 – 9:00.
The popular High Rollers’ drama will be airing five days a week with an omnibus on Saturdays.
Our current foreign properties will be airing from 22:30 with the exception of The Fixer, The Mentalist,
Brooklyn Nine Nine and movies that will be aired in primetime. The retro dramas will be shown from
Midnight on Sundays.
The weekend kiddies’ block will now start from 8.30 – 10:00 airing local kiddies shows while the
foreign kiddies’ properties will be broadcast weekdays at 5.30 – 06:00.
At the end of July we bid farewell to the families of Salem as Days of Our Lives comes to an end.
Afternoon Express will be broadcast in this timeslot of 17:00 from the 21st
July.
The channel will also be introducing two new talk shows.
Tween Talk Live (Local Talk) 4th
of July at 14:00 (First Premiere)
Tween Talk Live is a live studio, action-packed interactive space for 9 – 12 year olds to express themselves
and learn about their world. The show will be centred on FUN and entertainment. It’s all about kids being kids!
We want children to laugh and play while learning a plethora of valuable life skills.
Late night talk “Larger than life”, (Local Talk Show) 4th
of July at 22:00 (First Premiere)
This is an entertainment-based in-studio comedy talk show with a focus on celebrity interviews with a live
studio audience.The show hosted by Jason Goliath is fastpaced, lighthearted and fuelled by a sharp-tongued
insight into popular and youth culture.

Divas of Jozi (Local Reality) 4th
