Chief Petty Officer ZYTKOWICZ is cited for outstanding achievement while serving as the Engineering Petty Officer (EPO) aboard
USCGC AHI (WPB 87364) Honolulu, Hawaii, from June 2007 to May 2009. Chief ZYTKOWICZ demonstrated excellent technical
skill, professionalism and leadership which resulted in CGC AHI's success, including 3600 mission hours, 170 boarding's, 18 Search
and Rescue cases and 11 lives saved. As EPO, he led the Engineering Department and shore support teams through the tri-annual (W4 '
level) maintenance on both main diesel engines and generators and completed 9 engineering changes. After the AFFF Fixed Bilge
System Installation, he provided key system improvements to MLC, which were utilized for amendment-l of future installs, as well as
updating the 87' platform firefighting doctrine. As the Physical Inventory Control Officer, Chief ZYTKOWICZ successfully
managed over 700 line items totaling upwards of $90,000. His stewardship of inventory control has reduced the number of unit items
and increased overall parts management. Using superb initiative, Chief ZYTKOWICZ expanded his role, by certifying as Coxswain,
Boarding Team Member and Deck Watch Officer (DWO). Achieving these additional competencies gave the unit exceptional
flexibility to execute multiple missions. As the Training Team Leader.Chief ZYTKOWICZ planned, trained-and evaluated over 500
drills and exercises, creating a concrete foundation of knowledge for his shipmates andunit. As DWO; Chief ZYTKOWICZ deftly
conned CGC AHI during 119 Maritime Homeland .Security missions successfully safeguarding U.S. Naval assets. Chief
ZYTKOWICZ's dedication, judgment and devotion to duty are most heartily commended and are in keeping with the highest
traditions of the United States Coast Guard.
