I am very sorry to hear that you are leaving ABA and the JUSTICE Project. I was in Burma when you were
hired but I heard nothing but positive comments about your contributions to the project, particularly in
ensuring that sound management policies and systems were instituted at a time of what I would characterize
as great upheaval.
I was eager to meet you upon my return and I must say that the feedback about you was spot­on. I saw for
myself the substantial role that you play in maintaining the integrity of the project and have nothing but
respect for the work you have done.

Greetings Mat,
I am saddened by the news in more ways than one and emphasize the situation you've presented. It's been
so refreshing to work with you Mat, and how you've been able to greatly improve the areas which
USAID/ABA had concerns. You've turn­around the activity in a positive direction and thank you for that.
I'm certain it will not be easy at all for ABA to find such rare talent as yourself combined with
integrity/honesty, managerial skills and the dedication I've seen in your support of USAID activity through the
fulfillment of a critical role as the Operations Officer. The timing of your entrance to this activity was during a
time of reconciliation and "house­cleaning" ­ if you will ­ and it required perseverance among many other
soft­science attributes to succeed that you displayed.
On a personal note, I will miss the working relationship we've built ... the world is small (and it gets smaller)
and hoping our paths will cross again. All the very best on your new endeavour for better health and career
growth.
