This is a letter of reference for Jennifer Fletcher. Jennifer was a Community Organizer at Ottawa
ACORN from November 2014 – February 2015. ACORN Canada is a local and national organization
of low to moderate income families working on social and economic justice campaigns. We are a
grassroots organization run by our members and focused on community organizing by engaging people
door to door and phone call by call to help them work towards change.
Jennifer, as an organizer, demonstrated strong skills right away and quickly established a sizable new
membership chapter; she participated in our community engagement trainings and performed at high
level, quicker than most all other staffs. She carried out leadership trainings and our community
engagement program for low income families at an advanced level. She is an effective communicator
and hard worker, while at the same time carried out a respectfully and professional demeanor in
organizing our low income membership base.
Jennifer's regular workplace expectations were to manage the necessary paperwork in the office such as
data collection and membership list management, engaging and recruiting members through field
outreach work (door to door) and conducting large scale phone banking to ACORN members and
supporters to mobilize them into action for their community. She performed these daily expectations
above and beyond what was expected. Jennifer organized several community meetings and public
events that resulted in positive media coverage and meetings with the members' of government. She
trained several new low income leaders, building their confidence ad skills, to lead these events which
were extremely beneficial to our organization.
Jennifer is a fast learner and during her time with us was never afraid to take on new responsibilities
and she made a genuine, consistent effort to seek feedback and learn from our trainings. She
represented ACORN's values and mission in a meaningful way. Jennifer has been a reliable, hard-
working staff and an easy person to work with. She was courteous, respectful and professional in her
dealings with our members and the staff team at Ottawa ACORN. She has been a strong member of our
staff team and she will bring a strong skill set to any future employment. I am confident that Jennifer
will be an asset to your place of business and I am happy to offer this reference on her behalf. I would
