 Intrabony or extrabony : extrabony
 Colour :bluish red
 Size : 7ml x 7ml
 Soft or hard : soft
 Site : upper lip
 relation to teeth : upper canine
 Condition of corrosponding related teeth : vital
 X-ray : -ve

5. Tissue processing :
 1-Fixation :
 Lesion kept in 10% formalin for 24 h to maintain morphological shape
Of the cell and stop autolysis process and kill microbes and bacteria

6. Dehydration
 Dehydration of the lesion by different concentration of ethyl alcohol
50% » 70% »90% for 1h
to speed process left in oven 30 min (cant be used in bone )

7. Clearing
 Remove fats and lipid by xylene 30 min

8. Infiltration
 By remove xylene and enter paraffin to compensate shrinkage due to loss
of fats and liquid at oven temperature 60 for 2h

9. Blocking
 Put specimen into block at paraffin (preparing block )

10. Cutting
 Cutting by microtone 10 – 4 micron

11. Clearance
 Remove paraffin in oven before staining

12. Staining
 Staining by hematoxylin eosin

13. Examination under M.S

 Microscopic examination of H&E paraffin section reveals cavity containing
mucin pool surrounded by compressed fibrous & granulation tissue
infiltrated by few number of chronic inflammatory cell
 Part of C.T showing some sebaceous gland and hair follicle and few muscle
fiber

19. Cyst characteristic
 Mucoceles and ranula are retention or extravasation cyst occurring due to
trauma or blockage to the duct of sublingual or minor salivary gland
 Mucocele occur anywhere of the oral cavity except the floor of the mouth
but ranula occur in the floor of the mouth

20. Mucous extravasation cyst
 Arising from severance of salivary duct due to trauma such as that
produced by biting the lips or cheek so that a continuous pooling of
mucous occurs in the tissue
 It is considered a pseudo cyst due to :
1- its wall is made up of compressed fibrous connective tissue
2-the lumen is filled with an eosinophilic coagulum and mucous
