If you can find the “why,”
You will find the “how.”
I teach because
these students
are in charge of the world
when I am old.
I want them “done right.”
I want them done “my way.”
• I want to save these children. (condescending)
• I like summers off. (mind not connected to tasks)
• I get a discount toward student loans (minimal vested
interest)
• I just got laid off from another profession. (heart not
connected)
• I want to work with my friend. (persistent social
distraction)
Your Mind and your Mindset
need to be
conducive, aligned, and ready
to teach...
So that you can be proud
of the effects you have
on your students.
Mind Readiness
Belief that you will do well.
Belief that each student will do well.
Your strategies match student learning
needs.
Your materials match student learning
needs.
You know a lot of age-appropriate activities.
You are familiar with the neighborhood
culture.

What motivates student behavior?
How will you affirm appropriate behaviors?
What are the effective modes of
communication for this group?
How to teachers best teach?
What pedagogy will you use?
How often will you need to change modes and
methods of delivery?
To communicate your belief in student
learning…
How will you use the five senses in each
lesson?
How will you affirm on-task students?
How will you redirect off-task students?
How often will you make personal

 One full day of growth for one full day at school; one full

Corny or not…
Feel your mission,
Live your mission,
Fulfill your mission.
Be true to yourself.
Be impeccable with your own word.
• Post your mission statement in your classroom.
• Add the words to your syllabus and parent letters.
• Tell students often that you are true to your
mission.
• Act and speak in alignment with your mission.
• Re-group if your action or words stray from your
mission.
When you commit your
deeds and words
toward your values
and your philosophy,
you will find
natural peace and proactive energy
to make your ambitions come to life.
But…
Know what you
are allowed to do
and what you are
are able to do.
Know your personal limits of
values, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
When you compromise your values,
you generate
conflicting energy
and feel angst
in your daily reality.

Tmi ready, set, go mindset

  • 2. A healthy teacher is ready to give freely to students… Mind is clear  Understanding Body is healthy  Endurance Emotion is stable  Patience Relationships intact  Personal Replenishment

  • 4. If you can find the “why,” You will find the “how.”
  • 5. I teach because these students are in charge of the world when I am old. I want them “done right.” I want them done “my way.”
  • 6. • I want to save these children. (condescending) • I like summers off. (mind not connected to tasks) • I get a discount toward student loans (minimal vested interest) • I just got laid off from another profession. (heart not connected) • I want to work with my friend. (persistent social distraction)
  • 7. Your Mind and your Mindset need to be conducive, aligned, and ready to teach... So that you can be proud of the effects you have on your students.
  • 8. Mind Readiness Belief that you will do well. Belief that each student will do well. Your strategies match student learning needs. Your materials match student learning needs. You know a lot of age-appropriate activities. You are familiar with the neighborhood culture.

  • 10. How do students best learn? What motivates student behavior? How will you affirm appropriate behaviors? What are the effective modes of communication for this group?
  • 11. How to teachers best teach? What pedagogy will you use? How often will you need to change modes and methods of delivery?
  • 12. To communicate your belief in student learning… How will you use the five senses in each lesson? How will you affirm on-task students? How will you redirect off-task students? How often will you make personal

  • 14. Good, better, best… never let it rest, until the good is better, and the better is best.  One full day of growth for one full day at school; one full hour of growth with one full hour at school.
  • 15. Corny or not… Feel your mission, Live your mission, Fulfill your mission. Be true to yourself. Be impeccable with your own word.
  • 16. • Post your mission statement in your classroom. • Add the words to your syllabus and parent letters. • Tell students often that you are true to your mission. • Act and speak in alignment with your mission. • Re-group if your action or words stray from your mission.
  • 17. When you commit your deeds and words toward your values and your philosophy, you will find natural peace and proactive energy to make your ambitions come to life. But…
  • 18. Know what you are allowed to do and what you are are able to do. Know your personal limits of values, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • 19. When you compromise your values, you generate conflicting energy and feel angst in your daily reality.

  1. ----- Meeting Notes (11/20/16 12:13) ----- The teaching profession is made up of GIVERS. We convey KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and CONCEPTS as much as we can to the next generation. Each year, teacher needs to be ready to give this learning to students. Mind, Body, Psyche, and Relationships have to be stablized or, at minimal, acknowledged within reality. You are the point of origin for interacting with students and colleagues. (slide prompts) Mindset of teacher in front of students is also affected by other conditions like personal finances, career, politics, weather, and other interferences can throw your lesson off track. Be aware ahead of time.
