WHAT’S NEW
Maria owns a nail salon. Through the years,
she never failed to give the best nail care
services to her clients. Her nail salon was
recognized to be one of the best to deliver nail
care services in the city. Customers highly
recommend their salon and here are some of
their review.
Ms. Cathy:
“The place is clean and the ambiance of the
salon is relaxing. I observe the staff is the
cleaning and wiping down their stations with
alcohol after clients. Towels were and so as
with their other tools and equipment.”
Ms. Jenny:
“ I love this salon because they are good at
what they do. They disinfect foot basins and
spas after each client and at the end of the
day. Thumbs up for their cleanliness! Keep up
the good work.”
Mr. Adam:
“ Only this Nail Salon touch my nails. I have
been patronizing their services for years and I
never experienced an infection or injury. I
guarantee that their services are safe and the
staff are reliable.”
HOW DOES
STERILIZATION DEFFER
FROM THE SANITATION?
Sterilization is the process
by which all microorganisms
are directly killed or are
inactivated. Sanitation is the
process by which the numbers
of microorganisms are
substantially reduced, usually
by 99.99%. Sterilization will
inactivate all spores and
viruses while sanitation will not
have an impact on some
viruses and spores.
Sterilization can be
achieved using steam (high
pressure and temperatures),
ethylene oxide gas, chemicals,
or ozone. Sanitation can be
accomplished using chemicals
containing such substances as
sodium hypochlorite, calcium
hypochlorite, organic chlorine,
and sodium dodecylbenzene
sulfonate.
The sterilization process is
used to prevent infection in
immune-compromised patients.
The sanitation process is used to
reduce the chance of
contamination from surfaces and
equipment that has lots of
microbes present.
The following are needed
whenever you do cleaning,
disinfecting, and sanitizing of nail
care tools and equipment:
A. Cleaning and
Sanitizing Agent
Detergent
Liquid- Use in
cleaning the
tools and
implement
Abrasive
Cleaners-
Such as
sponge and a
small brush to
remove the dirt
A
ALCOHOL-Use
to disinfect or
sanitized the
tools and
implements
BLEACH-
With water
to clean and
disinfect the
workplace
A
B. EQUIPMENT
1. Sterilizer- looks like a microwave that places all the tools and implements like
pusher and nipper that should be sterilized through ultraviolet rays.
b
C. OTHER MATERIALS
2.BASIN- where you
can place the
disinfectant solution
and the tools you
should clean or
sanitize
c
1. Airtight, zipper-sealed bag- use to
place the sterilize and sanitize
implements and tools
3. Sterilizer Jar- sanitize
the tools and
implements if there is
no sterilizer available.
You can put a
disinfectant solution like
alcohol and water then
place the tools and
implements.
c
4. Tray- use
to place the
dry tools and
implements
1. Cloth or towel- use to
dry the tools and
implements after they
sanitize or clean. It is
also used to wipe the
equipment with a
disinfectant solution
d. Personal protective
equipment
1.Apron- protect your body or clothes
2.Gloves- protect your hands
3.Mask- protect your face
