2. I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Studying is an academic skill or strategy that a person employs which is essential in the process of
acquiring knowledge. Its significance is mainly emphasized in order for one to get good grades, attain success
in school, and merely for learning throughout one’s life. It is suggested that 80% of a student’s life is directed to
studying and so finding out a good study technique has been one of their academic conquests since then.
The first step in developing a good study technique is finding a conducive place for studying where one’s
mind can be both relaxed and stimulated at the same time. According to a 2018 research led by the Stevens
School of Business in New Jersey, the scent of coffee alone can boost one’s cognitive performance. This is due
to the idea that coffee could keep one’s mentality awake thus, could function better which results in a placebo
effect between drinking the coffee alone and just smelling it. With this, students are now swarming up every
nearest coffee shop and turn these places in to study areas. This results in to prolonged hours of students
staying inside the shop which brings inconvenience to local coffee shop customers as seats inside the shop are
always occupied.
Addressing this dilemma for local coffee shop customers and students searching for the right place to
study, Sweets and Study Café (S.S. Café) is determined to become a daily necessity for local coffee and tea
lovers, and for students who tries to escape the daily stresses of life while finding a comfortable place to study
and read a book or just a place to hang out with your friends, all in one. With the growing demand for high-
quality gourmet beverages and great service, S.S. Café will capitalize its proximity on the One Asia Commercial
Complex, City of Biñan, Laguna, Philippines to build a core group of repeat customers, particularly students.
S.S. Café will offer its customers the best prepared coffee, tea, and other beverages in the area that will be
complimented with pastries, as well as free books that its patrons can read to enjoy their visit.
3. I.1 Products

II.2 Nature of Business
Sweets and Study Café belongs to the service industry, particularly in Café and
Coffee Shops sector. Businesses under this industry primarily sell refreshment drinks,
snacks and light meals, with coffee being their flagship product. These businesses must
employ innovative strategies, such as diversification of menu offerings, to increase sales
and remain competitive. The industry’s growth prospects are dictated by issues such as
availability of disposable income in households and changes in customers’ preferences
for meals and drinks.
7. Cafés generate much of their revenues from coffee, a product that
accounted for more than 83 percent of hot beverage sales in 2012, according
to the Small Business Development Center Network. Tea and other
nonalcoholic drinks are also favorites among café customers. However, snacks
and light meals contribute significantly toward the overall revenues of cafes.
