2. WHAT ARE THE MAIN
FACTORS THAT AFFECT
CLIMATE?
1. Distance from the sea: regions that are
close to the sea have milder temperatures
than inland regions.
2. Altitude: the regions that are higher than
others, have lower temperatures and more
precipitations.
3. Distance from the Equator: regions closer
to the Equator have warmer climates.
4. TYPES OF CLIMATE:
Climates of
Europe
Temperate
climates
Oceanic Mediterranean Continental
Cold climates
Polar Mountain
5. OCEANIC
CLIMATE
•Especially areas near the Atlantic Ocean
•Temperatures are mild in summer and
low in Winter.
•Precipitation is abundant and regular.
•Vegetation: tall trees such as the beech
and oak.
6. MEDITERRANEAN
CLIMATE
•Areas near the Mediterranean sea (South of Europe).
•Temperatures are high in summer and mild in winter.
•Precipitation is low, especially in summer.

as rockrose.
7. CONTINENTAL
CLIMATE
•Inland areas of the east of
Europe.
•Temperatures are high in
summer and very low in
winter.

•Vegetation forests with
pines known as taigas.
Plains with poor soil where
only grass can grow called

Scandinavian countries and
Russia.
