1. Difference Between Sociology , Psychology and
Anthropology

in groups.
• It is the academic study of social behaviour, including
its origins, development, organization, and
institutions.
• It is a social science that uses various methods to
develop a body of knowledge about social order,
social disorder and social change.
3. Psychology
• The scientific study of the way the human mind
works and how it influences behaviour.
• Psychology attempt to understand the role of mental
functions in individual and social behaviour.
• It explore concepts such as perception, cognition,
attention, emotion, intelligence, motivation, brain
functioning, personality, behaviour, etc.
4. Anthropology
• It is the study of the human race, its culture and
society, and its physical development.
• Anthropology is the study of humans, past and
present.
• It tries to understand the full sweep and complexity
of cultures across all of human history.

6. Difference Between Sociology , Psychology and Anthropology
• Time Frame: Sociology and Psychology mostly deal in present whereas
Anthropology deals with the past.
• Level: Sociology deals with a large number of people , Psychology mostly deals with
individuals whereas Anthropology deals with small groups.
• Basis: Much of psychology is based on neuroscience, Sociology is based on common
sense and group behaviour and Anthropology is based on stories, history, archaeology,
language, etc.
• Usage: Sociology helps to deal with social changes , Psychology helps to deal with
individual behaviour and Anthropology helps to measure and predict the growth of
mankind as a whole.

• Sociology , Psychology and Anthropology and different fields.
• All these are part of social sciences.
• However, they are strongly interrelated to each other.
• They all have minor overlapping themes.
