It is responsible for operation and maintenance of lighting and ventilation in AC and Non-AC coaches in railways workshop ajmer. The Electrical Department has been divided into two wings: -Electrical Services department -Railway power house -Diesel power station - Train Lighting & Air-Conditioning (TL&AC).

- 27. End On Generation • In this type of system electricity is generated by power car. • This system is used in trains having AC coaches like Rajdhani express, Shatabdi express etc. Two type of power cars are used • 1) 415 V, 3 Phase AC • 2) 750 V, 3 Phase AC
- 29. Mid on generation • This train lightning system is used on small branch lines, hill area. In this system power car is used in the middle of all coaches therefore it is called as Mid On Generator
- 31. Self on generation • In self generating coach electricity is generated in coach by the generating equipment. • In old T/L system dynamo was used but in modified system brushless alternator are used
- 33. Refrigeration and airconditioning • Refrigeration • Refrigeration is a process in which work is done to moving heat from one location to another. • Air conditioning • Air conditioning is the removal of heat from indoor air for thermal comfort.
