Before Leaving Your Home Country
Once the University have courier the VAL – Visa Approval Letter to you, you need
to apply for Single Entry Visa from the nearest Malaysian Embassy or High
Commission or Consular.
1. Entry Visa is different from VAL – Visa Approval Letter.
2. You will need to take your Visa Approval Letter (VAL) along with your passport
and other travel documents to the Malaysian Embassy to get your Single Entry
Visa. You need to check with the nearest Malaysian Embassy on the
document requirement in order to apply for your Entry Visa.
3. If you arrive in Malaysia WITHOUT your Single Entry Visa and VAL – Visa
approval letter than the Air port Immigration will deport / transport you to
your original country immediately.

Before you leave for the airport, please be sure to bring along and have accessible,
the following important documents:
1. Passport (must be valid for at least 12 months before expiry). If you have
changed your passport kindly inform MIU immediately.
2. Original Copy of the Visa Approval Letter (VAL) or
3. Valid Single Entry Visa. Some countries must apply for an entry visa BEFORE
arriving in Malaysia. This is a different application from your VAL – Visa
Approval Letter. Effective 1 Jan 2014, students from all country must get the
Single Entry Visa before arriving to Malaysia.
On the Airplane
You need to fill in the Disembarkation Card provided by the airline crew. Please
keep the card stub and follow any specific information given to you by the MIU
counsellor.

Please book your flight ticket after receiving your VAL and Single Entry Visa
To arrange for the airport pick-up services, you MUST :

The air port pick up form must reach MIU or the to persons mention above at least
4 days before your departure.

Hotel Arrangement for Accompanying Relatives
• If you are accompanied by your relative please inform us and you will need to
advise us on the number of luggage you and your relative will be carrying. If
there is too many luggage than your relative will have to take separate
transportation / taxi to the hotel/hostel at your own expenses. The University
will only provide transportation to the student only.
• Your relative would need to make their own hotel / accommodation
arrangement. However they can click below and check the hotel near the
university.

6. Pre-departure Guide
At Airport
KLIA
Upon disembarkation, you will need to board a "sky-train" which takes passengers
from Terminal C to the Baggage Reclaim & Immigration Terminal. You must take
the sky-train within 20 minutes of disembarking the plane. The map is attached.
At LCCT or Subang Airport
You should proceed to the Immigrations Counter after disembarking the plane.

At the Immigration Counter
KLIA - A MIU representative will wait for you at the International student waiting area.
LCCT - A MIU representative will wait for you at the International student waiting area.
The MIU representative will hold a placard (piece of paper) printed with your name and
flight details to guide you through immigrations clearance.
You need to be ready with the following documents for the Immigration Officers:
Passport.
Original Copy of Visa Approval Letter & Valid Entry Visa.
The Immigration Officer WILL NOT release you without the presence
of a MIU representative to identify and clear you from Immigration.

Things to Bring :
• Bring along your receipts and payment slip (TT slip or any proof of payment) -
which you have done for your tuition fees, student visa and application fee and
student bill which you have receive.
• Malaysia has a tropical climate that is usually hot and humid. It rains on and off
throughout the year, but more between October – February. Therefore, it is
advisable to bring mostly light clothing, and umbrella as well as comfortable
footwear.
9. Things to Bring :
• If you want to be hygienic, it is advisable that you bring your own bed
sheets, blankets, pillow cases, mobile phone and a small sewing kit as
well. However, you can purchase them upon arrival. Pillow is not provided,
student will need to purchase.
• Also bring your daily necessities such as toiletries and bath towel together
with a set of clean clothes in your hand luggage just in case your checked-
in luggage is misdirected.

Back to MIU Campus
• Once the Immigrations Clearance procedure is completed, the MIU
representative will take you to the Hostel / the Accommodations. The
accommodation officer will assist you to check you in if it is during the
usual MIU working hours (not evenings, nights or weekends). Otherwise, a
warden will assist you in checking-in.

Special Medical Requirement .
Students coming from Yellow Fever Endemic Zones such as Africa and South
America in particular, are reminded to ensure vaccination before entering
Malaysia. A Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, valid only if the vaccines are
approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and administered at an
approved Yellow Fever Vaccinating Centre is required from those who come
from these zones. The Malaysian Ministry of Health will quarantine students
from these zones without a valid Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate upon
arrival for 2 weeks. The certificate is valid for 10 years and effective after 10
days from the date of vaccination.

debilitating and require either costly and prolonged treatment
OR are a recurring condition that may cause harm to self or
others OR addictions to drugs that are against laws of Malaysia
e.g.
• Cancer
• Dialysis
• Epilepsy
• Schizophrenia
• Urine Positive for Drugs
• Severe errors of refraction (for students)
• Deafness (for students)
Including

recommended at their own cost
