This document outlines a workshop program to engage children in their community through making musical instruments out of waste materials. The program would have children in local schools participate in a 6 hour intro workshop to learn about possibilities for instruments using found objects, then meet 3 hours per week over alternate days to construct instruments in a music lab and makerspace. The program would culminate in a final concert performance where the children can show what they've created. Details are provided on planning the workshop, potential collaborations, and promotional materials like posters and social media to invite people to the concert.

Create the drums using bottles, boxes, lids, bottle caps. Cups
Make the sticks using BBQ sticks or discarded pens
*Blunt the sharp edges using sand paper or masking tape
Fill objects such as egg shells, bottles, boxes with
small stones or seeds
Close them as the stones doesnt come out
Attach strings to the objects such as bottles, boxes
It's better if the objects are hollow and face the strings
Can be played by fingers ar a pick can be made

There is a free one month SoundTrap trial that can be used to see if it will benefit the schools. The trial version
could help initially to show its benefits and then had it transferred over to a full program once the budget
provided for it. (All the student’s work remains in their accounts and will just be transferred into the school
version.)
