Media studies - Assignment Analysis of some films scenes.

1. Analysis of film opening scene
Nine Frame Analysis
Films:
 Girl like her.
 Blame.
 Karate Kid .
 Contest.
 Thirteen.
 Easy A.
 Diary of wimpy kid.
 Bully.
 Odd Girl Out.

2. Frame One-Girl like her (2015)
• This shot is defining that Avery
(negative character ) making a video
clip of herself ,explaining that she is
all innocent .According to camera
composition, this angle is called
close up shot and the lighting is fill
and bright to show up that the
character's room is girlish, and this
shot disappears/dissolves as she
stops speaking.

3. Frame two-Blame(2017)
• This scene is clearly expressing us that the
girl is bullying the other girl (Sybil)as she
wrote “Psycho Sybil” on her locker and the
middle close up shot is taken of both girls.
The action match /eyeline match is also
shown , With the discontinued editing .
• The next scene starts which is about the
environment of class and professor
speaking/interacting.

4. Frame Three-Easy A(2010)
• The scene begins as the girl is shown
settling down the camera according to
her “perfect "angle .this shot is also close
up shot as she's introducing herself
(recording) and explaining that she us the
right person above all .
• If we go forward, the scene disappears
with discontinued editing. The lighting
of room was fill and bright too.

5. Frame Four-Diary of wimpy Kid(2010)
• The shot is POV(point of
view)and is long shot which is
specifying that a school has
started as the bell rings and
multiple students are shown to
bring originality to the created
environment .J cut is used as the
voice of lady(mom) starts
speaking and comes up to
camera after one second.

6. Frame Five –Contest(2013)
• This scene begins as the bunch of 4 guys
are holding the victim(another guy)from
his legs and hands to throw him into the
water. The shot taken is mid shot and
some boys from behind are cheering them
up to bully him . The costumes of
characters, shows that they were
swimmers.
• In the next shot, as they throw the guy
into water ,low angle is used under the
water.

7. Frame six-Odd Girl Out(2005)
• This shot is close up one and the
angle is Dutch as it taken from
lower side. It shows that the
lady(principal)us talking to
someone else, in the next shot
eyeline match is used .If we
reverse the shot , J cut is also used
and the lighting of this scene is
dull and not so bright .

8. Frame Seven-Thirteen(2003)
• This shot is middle close up
shot as the girl turn around,
and asks for her mother
opinion ,eyeline match is
used shot/reverse is shown,
and if we move a bit
forward.
• The scene dissolves with
continuity editing as her
mother replies.

9. Frame Eight-Karate kid(2010)
• This scene is a part of B-roll
as it shows a kid scared and
nervous, hiding himself
behind the wall and some
guys entering the building.
• The close up mid shot is
shown and next second ,the
scene dissolves with
continued editing.

10. Frame nine-Bully(2011)
• This scene is showing a full shot
of parents, whom are visiting the
grave of their child (who was
being bullied)and showing a
mournful situation of his parents.
• If we reverse the shot, we are
shown the kid whose grave these
parents were visiting.
