The Shriram saga began in 1969 when the first bag of Urea moved
out of the factory from Kota.
• Amongst the first private sector fertilisers produced in the country, Shriram Urea went on to set
the standards for quality in Indian Agriculture.
• The formation of DSCL in 1990 marked the beginning of their transformation into a
comprehensive Agri Inputs Player.
• Over the past two decades, they have rapidly expanded their portfolio, ventured into new
markets and strengthened their distribution network.
• Their portfolio comprises of basic nutrition products, yield enhancement products, crop
protection products and improved seed varieties.
• As one of the pioneers in the field of Indian agriculture, they realized their responsibility of
addressing the falling productivity and the imminent threat of national food insecurity.

10. :CORPORATE SOCIALRESPONSIBILITY:
DCM Shriram has had a deep commitment towards social responsibilities right since its
inception and has contributed significantly to the development of the communities in
and around its area of operations.
• Livelihood/Vocational Skills: DCM Shriram works extensively with larger farming
community to increase their productivity and profitability. This is done through the provision
of extension services in its Agri Business like Sugar, Fertiliser, Farm Solutions & Seeds.
• Healthcare & Sanitation: DCM Shriram has been working in the area of healthcare for the
past few decades in its areas of operation ‘Khushali Sehat’, initiated by the Sugar business in
collaboration with Vinoba Seva Ashram, Shahjehanpur, Sarvodaya Ashram is a popular
Health initiative. It reaches out to over 7000 families in the 40 villages in the vicinity of the
sugar mills with a mandate, to promote disease- prevention measures, chiefly among women
and children.
• Environment: DCM Shriram understands the need for maintaining right ecological balance
and has planted trees in and around all its facilities. A continued focus helped the company
achieve a tree survival rate of 95 per cent. Over 5, 00,000 tree saplings have been planted –
in the rocky terrain at Kota.
• Education: For the well being of the community at large, and around its manufacturing
locations, It has instituted scholarships in various Government Educational Institutions to
encourage meritorious students.
