Maharishi Organisations throughout the world
celebrated the pious occasion of 104th
birthday of His
Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ji, asAge of Enlightenment
Day (Gyan Yug Diwas on 12th
January 2021). The main
function was organised at Maharishi Utsav Bhavan, Gurdev
Brahmanand Saraswati Ashram, Bhopal.
In divine presence of Shri Guru Dev and His Holiness
Maharishi Ji, Brahmachari Girish Ji, Hon’ble Chairman of
Maharishi Group of Educational Institutions, inaugurated the
celebration by performing Shri Gurupujan with Maharishi
Vedic Pandits.
This year due to Covid pandemic situation, the function
was organised online in presence of very few dignitaries
following the social distancing norms.
On this occasion, ParamPujya Anant Shri Vibhushit
Jyotishpeethadhishwar Shankaracharya, Swami Shri
Vasudevanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj, Badrika Ashram,
Himalaya praised Brahmachari Ji for continuing the
unfinished work of Maharishi Ji for upliftment and re-
establishment of Vedic Culture. Through a virtual message,
Swami Shri Vasudevanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj gave his
divine blessings and extended best wishes to all the members of the Maharishi family.
Presiding over this function, Chairman of Maharishi Group of Educational Institutions Brahmachari
Girish Ji said that “due to restrictions, we are not celebrating this programme of Gyan Yug Diwas in
a grand manner but this special day is being celebrated in all Maharishi Institutions across the globe
following the restrictions norms."
Brahmachari Girish Ji further said that “we are launching today a website named maharishiji.net.
Our plan is to gather all the knowledge of Maharishi Ji on a site through his video and audio messages and
discourses. We also plan to introduce Gandharv Ved courses in future. An App Maharishi Ji will also be
soon available on Apple OS and Android platform very soon.”
He stated that “ShantiTatva played an important
role in human life. All daily conflicts are due to absence
of this peace. If we get peace in life then we will be
stress-free and healthy. It is an honour of Maharishi
family that Maharishi Ji has introduced a very simple,
natural and scientific technique of Transcendental
Meditation for getting inner peace and wellness.
Now there is no need to go to the Himalayas to find
peace. One can enjoy blissful life and inner peace
by practising Transcendental Meditation regularly
just for 20 minutes daily morning and evening and
listening to chanting of Gandharva Veda music. This
year we will have special focus on Gandharv Ved. This year's theme will be Establishment of World Peace
through Maharishi Gandharva Veda Music".
Explaining more about Gandharva Veda, Brahmachari Ji stated that Gandharva Veda which is
Upveda of the "Sama Veda”, is the study of all branches of music including song, vocal singing, and
instrumental. It has come directly from Bhagwan Shiv, he is the one who has given the knowledge of
Gandharva Veda to Goddess Saraswati, Lord Gangesh and Dev Rishi Narada.

Although Himalayan salt and sea salt share certain characteristics, there are some notable
differences between them.
Source
• Himalayan salt is found in and around the Punjab region
of Pakistan. For nearly 1,000 years, this colourful
form of rock salt has been mined and used from that
region, although its use may date back far longer.
• Sea salt is not extracted from mineral deposits, like
Himalayan salt or table salt, but is instead extracted
directly from seawater.
Colour
• Himalayan salt is pink in colour due to the colour of
the rock ore, which is primarily influenced by the rich
concentration of iron. This is why it is often referred to as
Himalayan pink salt.
• Ranging from green and red to dull gray or pitch-black, sea salt can come in many different
shades. Since it can be extracted from seawater all over the world, the different mineral
compositions and algae may change the colour and flavour of sea salt.
Chemical Composition
• The chemical composition of Himalayan salt is still mainly composed of sodium chloride,
so it is quite similar to table salt and sea salt from a chemistry perspective.
• Both salts are natural salts and may contain mineral impurities, such as high levels of lead
and copper, due to environmental pollution.
Flavour
• In terms of saltiness, there is not much difference between Himalayan and sea salt. The
larger, more granular types of salt have a saltier taste.
• Both salts have a cleaner flavour than table salt
because of their mineral content. The natural salts
tend to dull the sharpness of table salt in
dishes.

Himalayan Salt Vs Sea Salt

Texture
• Sea salt, which is extracted from seawater, has a natural moisture and has a softer texture
as compared to Himalayan salt. It dissolves more easily than Himalayan salt when used
in foods.
• The texture of Himalayan and sea salt tend to be more coarse than other varieties of
salt, making them a popular final touch or topping on certain dishes. Both work well as
finishing salts.
• Because of their granular texture, they are used in brine and marinades.
Which is Better For You?
Let us take a look at the health benefits of Himalayan salt vs sea salt:
•	Processing: Before Himalayan salt can be
safely added to your food, it needs to be
processed and purified, at which point it can
be used in the same way as regular salt. The
production process leaves this salt with few
additional benefits over table salt, although
it retains its pink colour. Meanwhile, sea
salt is salt produced by the evaporation of
seawater due to the heat of the sun. There is
less processing time used in its production.
•	Minerals: Himalayan salt does contain iron oxide and other trace minerals. Sea salt also
has some amount of trace minerals like potassium, iron, and zinc.
•	Sulphfates: Some people claim that darker varieties of sea salt have more Sulphfates,
which can be beneficial to the body.
• Saltlamps:Whiletherearesomewhoclaim
that Himalayan salt baths and salt lamps can aid
health in a number of ways – from detoxifying
the body to protecting the respiratory system –
there is little research to verify these claims.
There is no major health benefit linked
with using either Himalayan salt or sea salt.
However, the main health benefit is that both of
these natural salts contain a very small amount
of iodine, as opposed to higher levels in iodized table salt. So go ahead and experiment with
different natural salts to find what suits you better!

Tanzania: Six thousand Maasai women learn Transcendental Meditation
The Maasai are the indigenous people of Kenya and Tanzania, where the population is
estimated at 430,000. Maasai culture is renowned for its music and dance; however among
women in Tanzania, Maasai historically have had the highest rates of child marriage,
illiteracy and poverty. In the last decade, organizations have offered women training in
land rights and entrepreneurship, educational and employment support. Women strive
to improve their families' quality of life, while their subsistence lifestyle carries many
stresses. Since 2014, when two Tanzanian women (one Maasai) were trained and certified
as Transcendental Meditation teachers, about 8,000 Maasai in Tanzania - mostly women -
have learned TM. It is widely accepted and women feel it helps them sleep better and have
less worry and anxiety, with fewer health problems.
Science of Being and Art of Living by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi - New edition just
released
The Vedic knowledge of India has been the source of insight, inspiration, and enlightenment
for countless generations. MIU Press has just released a new edition of Maharishi Mahesh
Yogi's Science of Being and Art of Living: Transcendental Meditation - the modern
expression of this timeless wisdom, presented with exceptional clarity, precision, and
depth. Maharishi introduces the simple, natural, and effortless Transcendental Meditation
technique, which is the 'technology of consciousness' for directly experiencing the field of
Being, the transcendental field of existence, the inner Self of everyone. Through the TM
technique anyone can easily harness the unlimited treasures of this field of Being - infinite
happiness, energy, creativity, intelligence, and organizing power - bringing maximum
success and fulfilment to daily life.
Isolation can cause hypertension, especially in women: TM averts and reduces
hypertension
'Statistics, observation and research during the pandemic indicate that social isolation
puts women - especially younger women - at risk (more than men) for increases in high
blood pressure,' writes Maribeth Flood, M.S. RN, ARNP, PMHNP-BC, a Board Certified
Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Washington state, USA. High blood
pressure (hypertension) is among the most serious of risks for cardiovascular disease, she
says. 'So, what's a girl to do? I recommend that you learn Transcendental Meditation....
Research, including several randomized controlled trials on at-risk populations, concluded
TM reduces risk factors and hypertension.'

  • 1. 1 E-Gyan, Monthly Newsletter Saturday, 27 February 2021 104th Birth Day of His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ji Celebrated as Gyan Yug Diwas - 2021
  • 2. 2 E-Gyan, Monthly Newsletter Saturday, 27 February 2021 Maharishi Organisations throughout the world celebrated the pious occasion of 104th birthday of His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ji, asAge of Enlightenment Day (Gyan Yug Diwas on 12th January 2021). The main function was organised at Maharishi Utsav Bhavan, Gurdev Brahmanand Saraswati Ashram, Bhopal. In divine presence of Shri Guru Dev and His Holiness Maharishi Ji, Brahmachari Girish Ji, Hon’ble Chairman of Maharishi Group of Educational Institutions, inaugurated the celebration by performing Shri Gurupujan with Maharishi Vedic Pandits. This year due to Covid pandemic situation, the function was organised online in presence of very few dignitaries following the social distancing norms. On this occasion, ParamPujya Anant Shri Vibhushit Jyotishpeethadhishwar Shankaracharya, Swami Shri Vasudevanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj, Badrika Ashram, Himalaya praised Brahmachari Ji for continuing the unfinished work of Maharishi Ji for upliftment and re- establishment of Vedic Culture. Through a virtual message, Swami Shri Vasudevanand Saraswati Ji Maharaj gave his divine blessings and extended best wishes to all the members of the Maharishi family. Presiding over this function, Chairman of Maharishi Group of Educational Institutions Brahmachari Girish Ji said that “due to restrictions, we are not celebrating this programme of Gyan Yug Diwas in a grand manner but this special day is being celebrated in all Maharishi Institutions across the globe following the restrictions norms." Brahmachari Girish Ji further said that “we are launching today a website named maharishiji.net. Our plan is to gather all the knowledge of Maharishi Ji on a site through his video and audio messages and discourses. We also plan to introduce Gandharv Ved courses in future. An App Maharishi Ji will also be soon available on Apple OS and Android platform very soon.” He stated that “ShantiTatva played an important role in human life. All daily conflicts are due to absence of this peace. If we get peace in life then we will be stress-free and healthy. It is an honour of Maharishi family that Maharishi Ji has introduced a very simple, natural and scientific technique of Transcendental Meditation for getting inner peace and wellness. Now there is no need to go to the Himalayas to find peace. One can enjoy blissful life and inner peace by practising Transcendental Meditation regularly just for 20 minutes daily morning and evening and listening to chanting of Gandharva Veda music. This year we will have special focus on Gandharv Ved. This year's theme will be Establishment of World Peace through Maharishi Gandharva Veda Music". Explaining more about Gandharva Veda, Brahmachari Ji stated that Gandharva Veda which is Upveda of the "Sama Veda”, is the study of all branches of music including song, vocal singing, and instrumental. It has come directly from Bhagwan Shiv, he is the one who has given the knowledge of Gandharva Veda to Goddess Saraswati, Lord Gangesh and Dev Rishi Narada. Gyan Yug Diwas Celebrated at Bhopal

  • 23. 23 E-Gyan, Monthly Newsletter Saturday, 27 February 2021 Although Himalayan salt and sea salt share certain characteristics, there are some notable differences between them. Source • Himalayan salt is found in and around the Punjab region of Pakistan. For nearly 1,000 years, this colourful form of rock salt has been mined and used from that region, although its use may date back far longer. • Sea salt is not extracted from mineral deposits, like Himalayan salt or table salt, but is instead extracted directly from seawater. Colour • Himalayan salt is pink in colour due to the colour of the rock ore, which is primarily influenced by the rich concentration of iron. This is why it is often referred to as Himalayan pink salt. • Ranging from green and red to dull gray or pitch-black, sea salt can come in many different shades. Since it can be extracted from seawater all over the world, the different mineral compositions and algae may change the colour and flavour of sea salt. Chemical Composition • The chemical composition of Himalayan salt is still mainly composed of sodium chloride, so it is quite similar to table salt and sea salt from a chemistry perspective. • Both salts are natural salts and may contain mineral impurities, such as high levels of lead and copper, due to environmental pollution. Flavour • In terms of saltiness, there is not much difference between Himalayan and sea salt. The larger, more granular types of salt have a saltier taste. • Both salts have a cleaner flavour than table salt because of their mineral content. The natural salts tend to dull the sharpness of table salt in dishes. WELLNESS NEWS Himalayan Salt Vs Sea Salt
  • 24. 24 E-Gyan, Monthly Newsletter Saturday, 27 February 2021 Texture • Sea salt, which is extracted from seawater, has a natural moisture and has a softer texture as compared to Himalayan salt. It dissolves more easily than Himalayan salt when used in foods. • The texture of Himalayan and sea salt tend to be more coarse than other varieties of salt, making them a popular final touch or topping on certain dishes. Both work well as finishing salts. • Because of their granular texture, they are used in brine and marinades. Which is Better For You? Let us take a look at the health benefits of Himalayan salt vs sea salt: • Processing: Before Himalayan salt can be safely added to your food, it needs to be processed and purified, at which point it can be used in the same way as regular salt. The production process leaves this salt with few additional benefits over table salt, although it retains its pink colour. Meanwhile, sea salt is salt produced by the evaporation of seawater due to the heat of the sun. There is less processing time used in its production. • Minerals: Himalayan salt does contain iron oxide and other trace minerals. Sea salt also has some amount of trace minerals like potassium, iron, and zinc. • Sulphfates: Some people claim that darker varieties of sea salt have more Sulphfates, which can be beneficial to the body. • Saltlamps:Whiletherearesomewhoclaim that Himalayan salt baths and salt lamps can aid health in a number of ways – from detoxifying the body to protecting the respiratory system – there is little research to verify these claims. There is no major health benefit linked with using either Himalayan salt or sea salt. However, the main health benefit is that both of these natural salts contain a very small amount of iodine, as opposed to higher levels in iodized table salt. So go ahead and experiment with different natural salts to find what suits you better!

  • 27. 27 E-Gyan, Monthly Newsletter Saturday, 27 February 2021 Tanzania: Six thousand Maasai women learn Transcendental Meditation The Maasai are the indigenous people of Kenya and Tanzania, where the population is estimated at 430,000. Maasai culture is renowned for its music and dance; however among women in Tanzania, Maasai historically have had the highest rates of child marriage, illiteracy and poverty. In the last decade, organizations have offered women training in land rights and entrepreneurship, educational and employment support. Women strive to improve their families' quality of life, while their subsistence lifestyle carries many stresses. Since 2014, when two Tanzanian women (one Maasai) were trained and certified as Transcendental Meditation teachers, about 8,000 Maasai in Tanzania - mostly women - have learned TM. It is widely accepted and women feel it helps them sleep better and have less worry and anxiety, with fewer health problems. Science of Being and Art of Living by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi - New edition just released The Vedic knowledge of India has been the source of insight, inspiration, and enlightenment for countless generations. MIU Press has just released a new edition of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Science of Being and Art of Living: Transcendental Meditation - the modern expression of this timeless wisdom, presented with exceptional clarity, precision, and depth. Maharishi introduces the simple, natural, and effortless Transcendental Meditation technique, which is the 'technology of consciousness' for directly experiencing the field of Being, the transcendental field of existence, the inner Self of everyone. Through the TM technique anyone can easily harness the unlimited treasures of this field of Being - infinite happiness, energy, creativity, intelligence, and organizing power - bringing maximum success and fulfilment to daily life. Isolation can cause hypertension, especially in women: TM averts and reduces hypertension 'Statistics, observation and research during the pandemic indicate that social isolation puts women - especially younger women - at risk (more than men) for increases in high blood pressure,' writes Maribeth Flood, M.S. RN, ARNP, PMHNP-BC, a Board Certified Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Washington state, USA. High blood pressure (hypertension) is among the most serious of risks for cardiovascular disease, she says. 'So, what's a girl to do? I recommend that you learn Transcendental Meditation.... Research, including several randomized controlled trials on at-risk populations, concluded TM reduces risk factors and hypertension.'
