RICE2 values
Rice is an Asian staple food. It is therefore symbolic for us to use
RICE2 as the acronym for our school values. We want to digest
the values everyday so that we can internalize these values
through our ‘Learning by Doing, Doing until we Become’
philosophy. RICE2, which stands for
Respect,
Integrity,
Care,
Empowerment,
Responsibility,
Innovation,
Community and
Excellence,
are values that apply to both our staff and students.

In this presentation, we will be highlighting to you various aspects of your child’s educational journey in our school.
We will talk about what we as parents and teachers hope for your child as he begins his primary education and the aim of Primary education that will guide us as we help him along this journey.
We will also discuss how young children learn and the appropriate teaching methods for learners of this age.
We need to talk about assessments and tests, a topic which has always generated much interest and concern.
We hope to help you see the role of assessments and tests in our educational system and how different ways of testing used appropriately at various points in time can give a more complete picture of your child’s progress in school and give him feedback that will help him improve.
Lastly, we will look at how you could partner us to help your child learn and enjoy school from an early stage.
‘Yes I can and Yes I will’ campaign aims to increase the self efficacy and motivation of our students. Albert Bandura defined self-efficacy as one's belief in one's ability to succeed in specific situations or accomplish a task. One's sense of self-efficacy can play a major role in how one approaches goals, tasks, and challenges.
Research has shown that self-efficacy has emerged as a highly effective predictor of students' motivation and learning
Give examples of how parents can promote self-efficacy at home and how you as a teacher promotes self-efficacy and a growth mindset.
Encourage parents to be in alignment with school and inculcate the values at home. Give examples relevant to your students and class.
This is just a glimpse of the template. Stress that it would be important to set goals for holistic development (both academic and character development). Encourage parents to discuss with child at home.
Assessment is an integral part of learning. Assessment can be after the teacher has taught a new topic or skill through a series of activities. Assessment can also be during the learning process itself. The teacher needs to find out whether your child has learnt.
Assessment enables the teacher to provide feedback to the child to help him improve. Your child is also guided to correct his mistakes or practise specific skills to improve himself.
Pls edit accordingly.
Customizable Slide: School to reflect their holistic reporting plans. This is only an example.
In addition to the day-to-day feedback that the teacher will provide through written or oral comments on your child’s daily work, you will also receive a formal report at the end of each term.
In the termly report, your child’s progress in the key learning outcomes from the various subjects will be indicated through a rubric. (an example of the termly progress card may be shown here)
In Term 4, besides reflecting marks or grades for every subject, teachers will also provide an overall feedback of your child’s progress and achievements for the whole year. (an example of the year-end repot card may be shown here)
