4. Work Experience
a. Centre For Youth Development
I was hired as the Youth Empowerment Program Facilitator by the Center for Youth
Development in 1999. Due to restructuring I was assigned to head the new Training
and Development Department as a Coordinator. My task was to develop this fairly new
department, I was faced with a number of challenges in this position as the entire
training program of the Center was in my department. My job was a managerial
position, which exposed me to decision making without supervision. My duties were but
not limited to:
To coordinate all training programmes for the organization
To develop workshop manuals
To facilitate workshops
To monitor and evaluate training programmes
Networking with other training institutions.
Develop monthly reports for management meetings.
The Center for Youth Development had a partnership with Love Life between 2001 –
2003, in this partnership I was assigned to the position of Love Life Franchise Line
Manager. This meant ensuring that all Love Life programmes and objectives are
implemented and achieved as per business plan and within a set time frame.

In June 2003 I joined Carroll Shaw Memorial Centre a registered non-profit organization
(NGO) based in Westonaria as the Chief Operations Officer. My work was a Senior
Management position and my responsibilities were:
To advise and support the Executive Director with all operational and strategic
matters affecting the Centre.
Ensure compliance with the provision of Public Finance Management Act, 1999
as amended.
Prepare and ensure that reports, letters, presentations, and other information
required by the Board and in terms of relevant legislation are adhered to.
