2. Guidelines for a 15 rated film:
• There must be no discrimination involved.
• You can show drug taking, but nothing easily
acceptable and it cannot go into too much detail or
encourage people.
• There can be strong themes of threat or menace,
however, nothing sadistic or sexual.
• If there is any self harm/ suicide featured in it, it
cannot be shown in any great detail that will give
fragile people ideas/ instructions. There should be
no glamourizing of easily accessible weapons.
• Frequent use of strong language is acceptable, but
you can’t use too much of the worst language (like
C**t)
3. 15 Rated film guidelines continued:
• Nudity is allowed to be shown in sexual but not in great
detail, If it is non sexual or educational, anything goes.
• Sex is allowed to be portrayed but not in great detail,
sexualised language is also allowed as long as it is not
too extreme unless justified by the context. Anything
that may cause arousal is forbidden.
• No theme is prohibited as long as its ok for fifteen year
olds.
• Strong violence is fine, as long as it doesn’t dwell on
the infliction of pain or injury. Anything too gory, sexual
or sadistic will not be allowed, though can be allowed if
its only verbal and justified by the context.
4. Guidelines for an 18 Rated Film:
• Because we live in a society where adults have
free will and can choose whatever they do and
don’t watch, there are few guidelines on what 18
rated films.
• If the film has been created via a criminal offence
or breaks any laws, it is disallowed.
• If something promotes serious crime, such as
drug taking or sexualised assault to be a good
thing, it is quite rightly forbidden.
• Sex in too much detail is not allowed, and the
certificate would change to R-18.
