SPECIALTY CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Intravenous Therapy Training Program
A 3–day Basic IV therapy training Program conducted by the Fatima University Medical Center-
Valenzuela City. It includes a 24 hour-didactic lecture of the principles of IV therapy and Drug
administration, Venipuncture technique on adult and children, Blood Transfusion Administration,
Incorporation of Drug into IVF Bottle, Infection control and Microbiology, Parenteral Nutrition
Administration, and Standards of Safe Practice. The clinical component included actual IV Therapy
procedures including six cases of initiating and maintaining peripheral IV infusion, six cases of
administering IV drugs and two cases of administering and maintaining blood and blood components.

Advanced Medical-Surgical Nursing Practicum
A 56 – hour didactic intensive care unit training that included special topics on cardiovascular, renal,
respiratory, gastrointestinal nursing care management held on June to October 2009 at the Santo Tomas
University Hospital Critical Care Unit and Cardiovascular Unit.
