1. HOSPITAL DESIGN
The word “hospital “derived from the Latin word hospitalis
which in turn derived from french word “hospes” that mean
“ a host or a guest”
A hospital is a health care institution providing patient treatment with
specialized staff and equipment.
FUNCTIONS OF THE HOSPITAL
Patient care.
Diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Out patient services.
Medical education and training.
Medical and nursing research.
Prevention of disease and promotion of health.
OUT PATIENT DEPARTMENT
An outpatient department or
outpatient clinic is the part of
a hospital designed for the treatment
of outpatients, people with health
problems who visit the hospital for diagnosis or treatment,
but do not at this time require a bed or to be admitted for
overnight care.
INPATIENT DEPARTMENT IPD is a
department in a hospital that
takes care of patients admitted in
the hospital for at least a night.
Emergency Department
The department provides clinical services
to treat a broad range of issues which
need to be dealt urgently, including major
life threatening conditions to minor trauma
and ailments.
DIAGNOSTIC DEPARTMENT
COMPLETE, thoroughgoing physical
examination of every patient who
presents himself for medical advice
would undoubtedly result in fewer
diagnostic errors .
BURN CENTRE
A burn center, burn unit, or burns unit is a hospital
specializing in the treatment of burns. Burn centers are
often used for the treatment and recovery of patients with
more severe burns.

2. ELEVATION:
MASSING :
The curved front façade gives a free flowing effect.
The massing itself creates a soothing elevation .
The color used is white and sky blue mosaic tiles for the
entrance porch.
The sloping roofs with Mangalore tiles are contrasting to the
hospital building.
The recessed windows act as shading device

LOCATION
The hospital is situated at the eastern border of Meppel, a small city
in the northeast of the Netherlands, where it meets Reestdal, a rural
valley characterized by its meadows, fields, heaths, forests, estates,
and monumental farms.
DESIGN GOAL
Our design goal was to create a
building that feels friendly despite
the extensive program that the
hospital comprises. To create a
pleasant workplace for employees
and improve patients’ recovery rate
and experience: a healing
environment that stimulates
vitality, health, and movement.
MATERIALS
Thanks to the predominantly horizontal orientation, the use of natural
colors, and materials, and the implementation of a green roof
landscape, the hospital is perfectly embedded in its natural
surroundings. Folded aluminum plates on the façade reflect the
sunlight differently over time, changing the building’s appearance
throughout the day and with the seasons. Canopies accentuate the
buildings' horizontality and help prevent overheating.

Temperature
Multan features an arid climate with very hot summers and cold
winters. the city witnesses some of the most extreme temperatures
in the country.
FACTORS:
Being close to thar and Rajasthan deserts. Multan has seen some
worst heat waves in the history of Pakistan.

• South west monsoon
the driest month is October. there is 2 mm of precipitation in
October. most of the precipitation here falls in July, averaging 50
mm.
WIND DIRECTION
Monsoon brings along the breeze from the south
east in the hot wet period of July, august September and north
east in the cold month. North West Multan South West.
