PROJECTS
1. B.Tech. Project (junior Thesis)
Topic: Design of Cooling Coils for Air Conditioning Applications
Duration: July 2015 to November 2015
Guide: Dr. Rajesh Gupta, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical
Engineering,GZSCCET Bathinda.
This project consisting of design, simulation, fabrication and testing of a novel low cost plastic
heat exchanger using extremely thin plastic coils of 3 mm diameter for use in chilled water fan
coil unit. Objectives of my work are improvement in heat transfer coefficients and
reduction in pressure drop, cost and size of the heat exchanger by the use of very small
diameter polypropylene tubes. The design part has been completed and simulation and
fabrication of the same will be done in the next stage.
Based on theoretical calculations and extensive literature survey, it has been shown that thin
diameter and thin walled plastic tubes if used in heat exchangers can provide for compact heat
exchangers while providing a better performance as compared to heat exchangers having
metallic coils.
2. B.Tech.( major project )
Topic: Design,Analysis,Prototyping and testing of Wet multi plate clutch for a 1.5T three
wheeler.
Duration: March 2016 onwards
Guide: Professor Dr. Rajesh Gupta , Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical
Engineering, GZSCCET,Bathinda.
Currently working on this project ,we wants to design, analyse, prototype develop and test an
improved clutch suitable for 1.5T three wheeler as the clutch suppliers don’t have any clutch
2
3. above 1.2T in current production. For this, the approach would be to study the friction material of
driven plates, mean radius of clamping force action,pre-loading of clutch and number of driven
plates.
SUMMER INTERNSHIP
Industry: Mahindra & Mahindra limited,Rudrapur (U.K)
Topic: Automated manual transmission (AMT).
Duration: June2015 to july 2015
Guide: Mr. A. N. Verma (R & D Department)
AMT is an electro-hydraulic mechanism for automating manual transmission, which derives from
Formula 1.It has a hydraulic system and an electronic system. The electronic transmission
control unit helps in engaging and disengaging the clutch and gear through an electronic
actuator. It also has a sport mode, which enables driver to move to the manual shifting of gear to
increase and decrease the gear ratios with plus and minus either through gear knob/joystick or
the steering. In INDIA ,AMT is currently available in three cars-Celerio,Alto K10 and TATA
Zest.
