1. I am Farida Chowdhury, CEO of Medical Management Strategies (MMS). I have started MMS to better
serve our Eye Care community’s Billing, Account keeping, and Managing needs.
I have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and Masters Degree in Math and Science
Education. I have been in business for myself for past twelve years. Out of these twelve years, I have
been the CEO of Ophthalmology and Optometry practices for past seven years.
My love of managing and growing businesses led me to this field. As I started working in
Ophthalmology, I realized the great need for understanding the requirements of individual practices.
Not to solve problems as they come but foresee problems far into the future and implement necessary
actions to avoid problems.
My emphasis has been on smooth office flow, patient satisfaction, informed doctors, and keen account
keeping. I knew that in order to flourish the Ophthalmology and Optometry practices I manage; I had to
make sure all money due to the practice was in the bank. I took on the task of clearing all account aging
and in parallel put in filters to not have issues which will lead to account aging. This meant we had to
make sure:
 Coding for all exams was being done correctly.
 Keep current on coding updates.
 Work on unresolved issues on daily basis.
 Keep open communication with Ophthalmology & Optometry organizations.
 Attend organization meetings to keep abreast of upcoming issues.
 Keep constant communication with Insurance companies about new rules/regulations and allowable fee
updates.
 Put in checks to make sure doctors were being paid properly by insurance companies.
 To have continuing education for doctors and staff.
 To analyze monthly reports of the practice to evaluate the state of the business.
I have built very successful Ophthalmology and Optometry businesses and I believe my education,
experience, and medical business know how can benefit other practices as well.
