The Royal Wine Corporation is a leading producer, importer, and distributor of kosher wines and spirits based in New Jersey with vineyards in California. It was experiencing rapid growth that its aging UNIX system could not support, resulting in inefficient order processing, lack of real-time inventory and pricing data, and inaccurate reporting. 1. Background
The Royal Wine Corporation is a producer, importer and the world’s
leading distributor of upscale kosher wines, liquors, spirits and grape
juice.
With operations based out of Bayonne, New Jersey and vineyards in California,
Royal Wines represents its own brands, Kedem and Baron Herzog, as well as
numerous other labels that are imported from countries around the globe,
including Italy, France, Spain, Argentina and Israel.
Problem
As the demand for quality, kosher wines has increased, Royal Wines
has experienced incredible growth that their aging, legacy UNIX based
computer system could no longer keep up with. Chief among their
legacy systems deficiencies was the:
• Poor order processing functionality, which lacked integration,
mobility, reliability, and automation
• Inability to deliver real-time order, inventory & dynamic pricing
information
• Insufficient reporting
The mobile order processing module that Royal was using could not be relied
upon because it sent multiple copies of the same order. In order for Royal’s
outside sales force to enter an order, they either had to wait until they had
access to their computer system or rely on phone based communication,
both of which were subject to errors, delays and frustration.
Withoutaccesstouptodate,real-timepricingandinventoryinformation,their
sales force had to act on stale, unreliable information. Without integration,
data had to be manually entered into spreadsheets for analysis, which led
to discrepencies, inaccurate information, and poor reporting, causing

operations. As a result, Royal found that they were missing opportunities,
selling at incorrect prices, delivering orders incorrectly and late, dropping
order, working inefficiently, and losing the support of their employees.

With the holiday season approaching, they required that their entire implementation
and business transformation be completed within eight months.
After thorough analysis of their business processes, MIBAR.net recommended that
Royal Wine implement AccountMate’s SQL product because of its scalability and more
importantly, it open architecture, which would accommodate the customizations they
required to meet their unique business needs.
MIBAR.net equipped the Royal sales force with new laptops configured with AM Express,
thelightversionoftheenterpriseversionthatwasinstalledinRoyal’sbackoffices. MIBAR.
net also developed a unique synchronization utility that would ensure that all updates
and enhancements that were made to the back office system would be reflect on the AM
Express version that the sales team utilized. This was a significant step toward gaining
end user acceptance because it meant that the application never went out of sync, was
always upgraded, and that the sales staff and back office personnel were always working
off of the same data. The essential components of their solution included:
• A custom remote sales order module that enabled Royals sales force to
reliably and efficiently enter orders in real time from the field with real time
visibility to inventory and pricing information
• A pricing module developed by MIBAR.net that enabled Royal to dynamically,
auto-generate accurate prices and discount structures that were dependent
on a wide range of factors including quantity break points, product class,
individual customers, customer groups, & territory, with the ability to handle
partial case sales
• To meet country of origin labeling regulations, MIBAR.net developed import
trafficking functionality so that Royal could have the visibility they needed to
track the movement of product as they left the country.
• MIBAR.net created a series of easily accessible custom reports that can be
filtered across a wide range of parameters
With AM’s strong core accounting functionality and open software structure, MIBAR.net
was able to deliver Royal Wines the ERP software system that met all of their specific
business process needs on time.
